Guest guest
Theresa, Sorry to hear about Sammy. I know there's tons of parents here who have gone through similar things. We haven't thankfully. Patty's stomach is slow in emptying but we didn't even find that out till she was 15. I googled Reglan and can see why you are concerned. But really if you googol any med there are things to be concerned about. What you must think of is how does Sammy react to meds. At times Patty has the opposite effects of meds and other times she has intense side effects. For example Benedryl makes her totally hyper while 1/2 a Bonine makes her sleep half the day. I am sure you'll work closely with the doctor to figure things out. Sorry to be of no help. Wish there were something more I could do. I'll be thinking of you. Guest guest
Hi everyone, Sammy is in the hospital right now due to some choking episodes " ALTE " , he had a gastric emptying study and his stomach is very delayed in emptying. Doc is putting him on Reglan in addition to his Prevacid, but it sounds like Reglan has some scary side effects. Can anyone ease my mind by telling me your good experiences with Reglan- had it worked for your kids? Theresa
Guest guest
Theresa, SOrry to hear Sammy is in the hospital; I'm not sure what ALTE is and my girl has never been on Reglan but I remember it talked about before here on the list. If you go to the listserv website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CHARGE and select " Messages " (left hand column) and do a search for Reglan, it returns 275 messages...that's a start! Guest guest
Theresa, My daughter was on Reglan for a while--it was supposed to move food through her body quicker. However, I noticed that it made her fairly floppy and also seem to increase her secretions (I think because it gets things going in the system). So, we avoided it. She is on Prilosec and Zantac and does well with that. She was actually on Robinul for a while, which dries up secretions and this seemed to be very helpful for her choking on her own secretions. Good luck. , mom to Zach 5 years and Carmen 2 years (CHARGE) > > Hi everyone, > Sammy is in the hospital right now due to some choking episodes " ALTE " , > he had a gastric emptying study and his stomach is very delayed in > emptying. > Doc is putting him on Reglan in addition to his Prevacid, but it > sounds like > Reglan has some scary side effects. Guest guest
Hello Theresa, I hope you guys find the right combo of meds and/or positioning that works for Sammy. Rasha is 12 months and has used Zantac and Reglan together since 2 mos old with no adverse affects. We don't use the max dose allowed- just enough to do the job. Currently .9mL/3xday on the Reglan. Guest guest
Same here, i dont use the max of Celexa or even the pill, i use just enough to help. I think with Celexa its 10mg a day. I know with the dose of the pill is, but its not as strong as some varieties. Chantelle -- My spelling's kinda wobbly. It's good spelling but the letters wobble and end up in the wrong places. - Winnie the Pooh
Guest guest
Hi Theresa-- Eddie has been on Reglan for a few months now with no noticeable side effects. 1.6 cc 1/2 hour before each meal. He's almost 7 and 35 lbs at most. He also takes Prevacid. The GI says they work well together. Eddie's gastric emptying study was normal, but he was bringing up food anytime up to a few hours after meals. He still does, but less volume and he's able to keep it in his mouth & swallow it again vs. vomiting several times a day. Swallow study in 2 weeks will hopefully let us know more about what's going on in there. Good luck & hope Sammy is out of the hospital soon, Joanne from NJ
Guest guest
Evan had Reglan a few times when he was an inpatient, to help advance his NJ (or OJ) tube when it had backed up into his stomach and become an NG (OJ) tube. I don't remember him having any side effects from it. I have also taken Reglan--I took it to help with milk let down when I was pumping for Evan. The only side effect I experienced was diarrhea. It worked really well for increasing the amount of breast milk I could pump though. Unfortunately because I was making frequent 2 1/2 hr drives from our home to the hospital to see Evan--and the pit stops were killing me--I had to stop taking Reglan. Guest guest
My daughter has been on it for 18 months without any side effects. The only side effects I have heard of is crankiness or grogginess. Guest guest
Theresa, Vinny was on Reglan from about week 2 until he was 5 months old or so. He did not seem to have any adverse reactions. He was also on Prevacid at the time, in addition to heart meds, so even if there were some side effects I wouldn't have been able to tease them apart. He was maxed out on all of his meds for his weight at the time. I, too, went on Reglan to help with pumping. Aside from some very minor nausea (which could have EASILY been due to stress and not Reglan), I had no side effects. Hope this helps and I look forward to the email that Sammy is home! ina, mom to Luca (3) & Vinny (14 months w/ cHARgE) --- Theresa Passmore wrote: > Hi everyone, > Sammy is in the hospital right now due to some > choking episodes " ALTE " , > he had a gastric emptying study and his stomach is > very delayed in > emptying. > Doc is putting him on Reglan in addition to his > Prevacid, but it > sounds like > Reglan has some scary side effects. Guest guest
THanks for the reminder ina! I used it for pumping too. Didn't bother me at all and increased my milk.
