Guest guest
My grandson (CHARGE 6 years old) is going to have his second open heart surgery this summer. He will have his mitral valve replaced and his pulmonary stenosis evaluated with a possible repair. Has someone else been throught this already? I'm concerned regarding the entire thing, but specifically with how we tell him and when.

Guest guest
Hello, I hope you get some answers from people who have been there personally. I recall being amazed so often of people being so concerned before the surgery about set backs in development, pain and so on. then they come on post-op and they are amazed at how fast recovery was, and how fast the kids bounced back. For me with any surgery (once you get past safety) the key is proper pain management, especially if the child does not have a way to tell you. Good luck, Kim Certfied HANDLE Screener and Intern Mom to Dylan 10 CHaRGE, Kayla 16, Tyler 18 and wife to Roy who makes all things possible in our lives.
