Welcome Stacey!! This is a wonderful group! :)

in SD

There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a

journey, not a destination. So work like you don't need money, love like

you've never been hurt, and, dance like no one's watching.

New to the group

Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Stacey,

I will be 29 in April, I live in Surprise, AZ & will be going for

gastric bypass surgery on May 2, 2003 (It will be a late birthday

gift to myself LOL). I can't begin to tell you how excited I am that

all of this is finally taking place. I am sure you all know what I

mean as you have all been there yourselves weather you are waiting

for approval or have already had the surgery done. I look forward to

talking with you all & learning as much as you care to offer me. I

look forward to speaking with you all!

Stacey

I've been a member and reading all your posts for several weeks

now. I'm having surgery on April 14th in Rock Hill, SC. I know this

is a long way from most of you but would like to ask for your

thoughts and prayers as I start my journey. I've learned so much

just from reading the things some of you have experienced. Thanks

for sharing and God Bless.

Hi Sandee - Would you like to have an angel from our wonderful group? This is

someone to check on your before and after surgery and report back to the group

on your progress.

Thanks Trace,

I really like the support of everyone in this group. As you can

expect I'm a little nervous but very excited. But I can't wait to

tell you I'm on the other side.

Take care.

>Hi Jeanne, Thanks so much for the post. I do have an angel from

my Rock Hill group but would love to have someone from this group if

it's not too much trouble. I know I'm not very close. You all are

so supportive so just knowing everyone is thinking of me is more

than I could hope for.

Thanks so much!

Hi all,

I'm a 57y/o man and I was diagnosed with type 2 about 5 yrs ago, but

lost weight and exercised, so I wasn't on meds. My last a1c was 6.2

and my morning numbers were high, like 140-160. About a month ago, my

vision was getting a bit blurry and I have " pins and needles " in my

lower legs.

What I'd like some input on is:

1. Do my numbers warrant those type symptoms?

2. How fast should I get results from 1000mg. Metformin a day and will

those symptons go away (I hope)?

3. My body feels " weird " on and off during the day, just not normal.

Is that a normal symptom?

4. When I take my Bg should the number be relative to how I am feeling

at the time?

Any help would be appreciated, I'm a bit freaked at this time!

Thanks

If you're a diabetic for years, this can be. You should get a physical

exam.

Since you're having a high fasting glucose, Metformin might not be

enough anymore. How much do you take at the moment?

Weird?

With relative do you mean being hungry when your BS reads e. g. below

100 mg/dl?

Best wishes

Test your blood sugar when you feel 'weird' and see if it is related to

either low or high blood sugars.

This will help you identify how you feel when you have one or the other

(generally a low). If you can't attribute these feelings to a high or a

low, be sure to mention it to your doctorr (actually you should mention it

anyway)... maybe it is due to an allergy to the metformin? Does it happen

at a set time after you take your pills?
