Guest guest
I am getting complaints about messages not being edited. Please remember that only one or two sentences of the message being replied is all that is necessary. Please delete the rest of the message. If you don't know how to do this, please let me know. Also, when we don't change the subject line to reflect the topic being discussed, it is hard to go back to the archives to read particular messages. hugs Eunice

Hi Mike, Editing messages has nothing to do with broadband. We have a lot of members that receive their messages via daily digest in which they will receive as many as 25 messages. When messages are not edited, they have to scroll through the same messages over and over. Also, some people read messages at work and they don't have unlimited time to read the same messages. hugs Eunice

I understand the concerns about triming quotes, and can sympathise with those who don't have a broadband connection. (Prior to my switching to Gmail, I actually preferred the entire message be quoted, so I could re-read what had been mentioned, as I don't read this list from the Yahoo Groups interface. It made researching things much more convenient, especially on some of the more technical lists I belong to.) However, unless there is a drastic change in the discussion (and the message really should have been a 'new' message), minor changes to the subject line make it hard for me to follow a conversation. Gmail threads messages based upon the subject line. If someone so much as corrects the spelling of something, it breaks that threading. I frequently flag threads I have responded to to followup on replies or other questions. I flag the conversation 'followup'. If the subject line is changed, it then breaks that flag. Oh well, that's just my two cents on the issue. Mike
