Guest guest
Every now and then, I feel the need to say something about moderation, and what exactly gets moderated. This list is moderated, for spam as well as inflammatory posts. We let a lot of things slide, and I can count on both hands the number of posts I have rejected from our regulars in the last couple of years that I have been a moderator. For the most part, we usually just send a short email and ask that you take the inflammatory stuff off list, and deal with it on a personal level, where the only limitation to what you can say, is your own ability to spell things correctly. Those rejected posts were usually towards the end of a heated debate that had become non productive. The last few days, Yahoo has been having issues with their servers, they have fallen to back up servers and that delays some posts by up to 'several hours' (Yahoo's words, not mine). The delay in the posts making it to the list has been the issue of Yahoo, not the moderators. I can't speak for the rest of them, but I check my email on a regular basis, actually more times a day than I care to admit, and if there are messages pending, I take care of them right then, be it 6 in the evening or 2 in the morning. If your post doesn't hit the list immediately, first, send a mod an email if you think it is taking too long, it may be a fluke wherein all the mods are busy and none has checked their email. Take a minute to see if Yahoo is having server issues. Send me an email and ask me what in the world is going on. If I have the answer, I will send it to you, if I don't have the answer, I will tell you exactly that. I am not going to respond to questions on the list, but if you have any questions, feel free to send them to private email. Mike
