My original post when I changed the thread spoke to some of the extremes people

go to in order to justifying not responding. I also mentioned common sense in

regards to these issues.

Here we go Salvidor, you asked for it.

Nope I am not going to dog you. I just think that you used an extreme condition

to address my issues that I listed. No one in their right mind is asking you or

anyone else to take a bullet for anyone. But I do have an issue with your me

first attitude. When you go to work for an EMS service you have entered into a

contract may it be silent or unwritten that your first responsibility is to your

patient. That means everything from medically treating them to protecting them

when they can't protect themselves. All of this can be accomplished by using a

little common sense. It is acceptable to stage and wait for Law Enforcement to

clear a scene that you have been informed that is unsafe. If someone is injured

and is approaching you for care, you are just going to turn tale and run just

because the guy that did the deed may come back! No I do not agree with you on

this one. Now if you see the guy jogging along behind and is lining you up in

his sights, by all means scoot on out of there. Just Maybe's cannot be

justifyed.

I think maybe we have over trained on our saftey first. We now have medics that

are so safety first cons. that they are paralyzed and cannot think on their own.

I tell you what, its not the call that the dispatcher has informed you of that

is going to get you. Its the one where you are not thinking that is.

As far as your partner is concerned, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be him or

her. Depending on what side of the bed you get up on that day determines if your

partner gets support. Sure we all have partners that we think need to be tuned

up a little. There are other ways to take care of that.

The end result here is that I think your comments have been on the extreme side

and probably don't truly reflect you as a person. However, if you really feel

this way, then I would never agree with you.
