Guest guest
Around tax time every year I always hear these stories about how other people in our profession get their taxes done by CPA`s or other tax pros who specialize in helping FF`s and Medics. Apparently there are tax breaks that we get for doing what we do and anyone I have ever heard that has itemized their taxes (with the help of a pro of course) has gotten a great return anyone know about this or even better have the name and contact info for one of these miracle Tax pro`s any info would be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Get a good CPA, they should know all the breaks. Mileage, classes, uniforms, shoes, periodicals, home office space, etc. Generally a rule of thumb is if you spend money to make money. Not an expert, but that is what my accountants have told me. ________________________________________________________________________ FREE Reminder Service - NEW from AmericanGreetings.com Click HERE and never forget a Birthday or Anniversary again! http://track.juno.com/s/lc?s=197335 & u=http://www.americangreetings.com/products/\ online_calendar.pd?c=uol5752
Guest guest
called Pamela , CPA. her number is . She does a lot of taxes for fire/EMS/LE and healthcare providers. She will likely mail or fax you some of the brochures she prepares that has itemized lists of what can or cannot be deducted by profession. They are free and very useful. Guest guest
and...dry cleaning, tools, (ears, shears etc..), lots of items we forget. In the absence of a CPA you can also look for an Enrolled Agent, (EA). If MD's = CPA's then EA's = PA's. A really good alternative, not as expensive, and they too must keep up on all taxation rules etc... Go Uncle Sam!! Steve Mc. _____ From: texasems-l [mailto:texasems-l ] On Behalf Of lwd7734@... She did real well with all of the legal deductions. Alot of guys ( Medic/ FF) use her is SETX. Guest guest
I wouldn't even think of having anyone but a CPA do my taxes. Doing your own taxes is like taking out your own appendix. Guest guest
And I'm in that 1% that just takes the standard deductions... Of course being a single father and renting, not owning, and having simple investments (401k/IRA in mutual funds), mine are relatively simple - but I don't spend enough in tax-break items/health care/ dependent care to be higher than my standard deduction(s), so it's easy enough just to do the 1040-A online with everything standard...
