Guest guest
Forwarded from a friend requesting help, Does anyone have any ideas? Reply on or off list dbohn@... Desperate for some help here. My 16 yr old daughter has been ill since Oct 1st. She has been in and out of the hospital. She has severe lower abd pain that even prevents her from walking very far, eating and drinking cause more pain. She was referred to Texas Children's where she has been seeing a pediatric gastro dr. She is now on her second round of mega doses of steroids and entering her step down to find the pain returning and now her hair falling out. They have scoped her and the dr said that he found cells in her small intestine that are indicative of Crohn's but cannot diagnose her as a Crohn's pt due to the fact that she doesn't have the bleeding or diarrhea. She has been on multiple medications since this has begun, but the only that has given her any relief is the 40mg a day of the steriods. He has even stated that if this doesn't work, he doesn't know what to do. has been unable to attend school, work, anything since Oct 1st. Anyone have any suggestions? Dr, test, medication suggestions? Between everyone, I know with all the knowledge there has to be something that can help. Appreciate It, Drew Bohn, EMT-P, EMS-I Orange, Texas
Guest guest
They should try to get her into a diagnostic center such as & White in Temple TX. or the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN. Both are great! I attended a conference at Mayo in the summer and they seem to be very thorough in all that they do. & White will be the same. Hope this info is helpful. Keep us posted! Our thoughts & prayers are with her... Guest guest
Not knowing more specifics about the condition or the diagnosis makes it hard to give a good answer. My sister has Crohns and she has taken the remicade therapy with good results. I can tell you from HER situation and nothing more, that its not something that has a cure per se, but meds for comfort and reducing symptoms..... Guest guest
I worked for a Dr. who used the Remicade therapy as well. The patients all said they felt much better on the therapy. Consult with her physician to see if this may be an option. " A. " wrote: Not knowing more specifics about the condition or the diagnosis makes it hard to give a good answer.
