Hello, all. I wanted to pick some brains if I could. I just finished

up my EMT-B training. Taking NR test at the end of the month. I want

to get my FF cert next before I take EMT-P. I found out about this

online fire academy on trainingdivision.com. My reason for wanting to

take it this way is so I can keep my full time job. Gotta pay bills,

ya know. Anyway, does anyone have any experience with this type of

thing. Is this a wise decision? If not, what are some other options

you might know of. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks and be safe.

I would get my EMT-P before FF speaking from experience I`m having hell finding

a job as a certified FF/EMT it seems now FD`s are more willing to send you to

fire school rather than paramedic school not to say they wont hire you but I

have been certified as a FF for 3 years and am still looking for a fire job. As

for the online class I know about 10 people who have taken it from the same site

and they have all passed it with no problems.

North Texas Fire Academy's program is based in Rowlette.

Good luck to ya! I will probably stay as close to the Big D as I can, though.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

there this Saturday for the next 12 saturdays. The training facility is located

in Houston by Hobby Airport. The two are priced about the same. I chose FAO

because I'm closer to Houston than Dallas and they offer a choice satrudays only

or the 14 day boot camp at the end. I chose the Saturdays. I will be done with

everything by March 27, 2007

I appreciate the advice. Since I decided to get into this, I have heard one

universal thing. It takes forever to get on with any department. But, every

single FF I have talked to from Dallas to Rowlett to have all said, " Don't

give up. Keep getting as many certs as you can while you are applying. " So, I

wish you luck.
