How crews can profit from SSM

That game sounds fun. You can also drive around to the drive thru windows

of various fast food restaurants and pick up the change off of the ground. We

used to to that when bored and made about $ 20 per shift between us.

So I've been in a money making mood lately, and I started wondering

how EMS crews could profit from SSM. Then it hit me!

THE OFFICIAL SSM BETTING GAME

When your unit is asked to post, you are also given " odds " on whether

you will be closer to or farther away from your next call due to your

posting assignment. For example, betting on the " closer to " line

might pay 3:1, while betting on the " farther from " line might only pay

2:1 (for you statisticians, that means your odds of being closer are

3:2, because SSM would *never* intentionally post trucks FARTHER from

calls, would it?).

For even more excitement, " district odds " could be played for a bonus,

much like the bets you'd made on the craps table for a " hard eight " or

somesuch. For example, " District 1 " might pay an additional 2:1,

whereas " District 2 " might pay 5:1. District Odds would be much, much

more challenging as the demographics of the district might alter the

odds each and every 15 minutes (your System Status Controller would be

responsible for updating the odds per the SSM model for your response

area).

A variant game would be

THE OFFICIAL MPD BETTING GAME

In this game, you'd bet on whether or not your call gets upgraded or

downgraded, or whether or not you get diverted prior to arrival for a

higher priority call.

For more exciting fun, try

MPD BINGO!

Just put the MPD call types on BINGO cards and as you go through your

shift, mark the calls you're assigned to! If you BINGO first, you

WIN!

Mike (who's obviously bored today)
