Guest guest
Welcome to the group =Stacey= you'll find lot of love, support and information on the group! I do wish you, your husband much success in your new journey of weigh loss. And your mother-in-law should join it would help her as well. Just tell her hey it could be 80 lbs that you put on, plus this is a tool to be worked with not a miracle tool. Best wishes Hugs... Theresa ~IL Open RNY 7/20/01 Starting Wt: 327 Size: 30/32 TT: 1/13/03 Current Wt: 177 Size 8/10 Introduction Good afternoon! I just joined the group yesterday and wanted to say hello. I am a 37 year-old female whose husband (let's call him " B " for now) is in the insurance approval stage of the Gastric Bypass process. He is 33 and I am hoping he will join this group soon. I feel he needs it (the group) more than he does. I know I need it as his supporter and future caregiver. Right now he is 6'5 " and weighs 615 and my main concern is if he is healthy enough to withstand the surgery (doc wants him to lose weight first, but it is not working). I know his quality of life is decreasing daily without the surgery, so we must take this leap of faith. He has fought fat his entire life. Our son was 13 pounds at birth but very skinny since age 1 - I hope it lasts! I am 6' and weigh 357 - have struggled with weight since graduating high school (leaving year-round athletics). I've really let myself go since meeting my husband (unconditional love & acceptance) and hope to lose weight with him, without surgery at this point. My mother-in-law had the surgery in August 2002 and has lost 80 pounds. We are so proud of her, but she struggles with what she eats, how many pounds she's not losing, etc. I wish she'd join this group too! Anyway, I hope to learn lots from all of you experts! It will be nice to have support while supporting my husband. Thank you!! = Stacey = To Subscribe to 's monthly FREE Newsletter send an email to GBCookbook-subscribe@... Guest guest
Welcome. It's so difficult to lose weight before hand. I know did, and very well. I think she was doing 5 protein shakes and two small meals for a couple of months prior to her surgery. Her doc said she had to lose weight, too. Have you found a protein shake that " B " likes? Guest guest
Welcome Bob, This is the place for such wonderful support. Has been a blessing for me for sure. Hugs, Jules Romero 381/243/160 Lap RNY 5-29-2002 Dr. Hargroder - Plaquemine, LA My mind went for a walk when I wasn't looking. Introduction Hello Everyone: My name is Bob Wilczynski. I live in Central Illinios. I am a 33 yr old married father of one. I have been in the lengthy process of getting insurance approval for the surgury. My mother had it last August, and has had incredible success in her first few months. I began my process last March meeting with the surgeon, nutritionist and psychiartrist. My first submission was denied because I hadn't met with my physician four times in a six month span. I belive the exact words were " you haven't had doucmented failure after meeting with your physician four times in six month span. " So I am in the middle of my " failure period. " This period has been the longest wait of my life. I have shared my journey with very few people in my life (at least until the insurance gets approved), making it that much more lonely. I just dont want to be flooded with questions about it until I know its going to be a reality. When I first met my surgeon he wanted me to lose weight prior to the surgury to reduce some risks. Not only did I not lose, but I gained a couple since I met him last March. My biggest fear is that insurance gets okayed, but the surgeon believes there are too many risks. I weigh just over 600 lbs. It really seems to me there are more risks by not having the procedure than by having it. It has been great to see the procedure more publiced in the media through Al Roker and the tv show Ed. It has been a huge support for me to see other go through it. I think finding this group can be an amazing breakthrough. I can finally talk to someone about it. I am really looking forward to sharing and learning. I will keep you updated on my progress. Sincerely, Bob Wilczynski
Guest guest
Bob, give your insurance company hell for standing in your way... your BMI alone should make you eligible... harass them!! Irritate them!! Make them want you out of their hair!! Now, why not try adding protein drinks to your life right now, and see if they help cut your carb and sugar cravings... and maybe loose some weight for your surgeon... increase your water, cut back on sugar... little things. Try the protein, it'll also increase your energy. Sharon in D.C. Introduction Hello Everyone: My name is Bob Wilczynski. I live in Central Illinios. I am a 33 yr old married father of one. Guest guest
I am new to this group and wanted to introduce myself. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 5 years ago shortly after I had bee in the hospital with my asthma. At first they thought my blood glucose was high because of my meds (prednisone I think), but they never went back down. I am 58 years old and have a number of other health problems and I'm on disability after having worked many years in health care administration, then for ten years at a university. I have pretty much been in denial about it all this time. I even went off my meds for quite awhile when I was without insurance. Well, I am trying to get on track now and thought I'd be better off being part of a supportive community. I am new to the area where I'm living and have a new doctor, whom I have just asked to refer me for diabetes training. I know the training is necessary, but I also know I can't do this all on my own. I have been reading the posts for several days and look forward to learning more from the folks here. --------------------------------- Sneak preview the all-new Yahoo.com. It's not radically different. Just radically better.
