Guest guest
Michele, Sorry about that. Last week was a mess for us. Jess did end up in the hospital after she had a lot of bile coming out of her g-tube. The ER wasn't sure what was going on so they admitted her. It ended up that she was constipated. That was a new one for me as Jess has dumping syndrome and to my knowledge has never been constipated before. She went in on Wednesday and was back on campus on Friday. As for being horrible...it was more than that. I was trying to get answers from the hospital doctors and information wasn't adding up. Then overnight on Thursday night she pulled her g-tube out and they didn't put it back in until morning. She went from Wednesday afternoon to Friday noon without nutrition or IV as they were trying to clean her out. One time I called to check on her and the nurse told me that they wouldn't have any answers until after her " surgery in the morning to figure out why she isn't tolerating feeds and throwing up " . I was terrified. Needless to say I didn't sleep that night because after I questioned the nurse she refused to talk or say any more. I had to wait to talk to the doctor. The Perkins staff was wonderful. They stayed by her and she knew she was fine with them. After all of the hospital communication problems I don't know if I will be able to stay home again if I hear the words admission. After each phone call I would cry and tell Rio...I should have been on that plane " . But we all survived. It was a process for me but I made it. I will just assess each instance as it comes from here on out. Last night Jess went back to the ER to have her g-tube put back in. This now makes the 4th time she has pulled it in the cottages since Dec 2. I guess it is time to brainstorm on how to stop her from doing this as it appears she likes the trip and attention. Thanks for asking about Jess. Take care, Sheryl Mom to P.S. As some of you know my son was married last year. Well he and his wife will be giving me a blessed grand daughter come this may. I can't wait!
Guest guest
Sheryl- That does sound horrible! I just can't even imagine! I know it was a comfort to know the staff was there, but it's just not the same, is it? I hope you figure out how to stop the tube-pulling. What a stinker! How cool that you will be a grandma!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Michele W
