Dearest , what you have to go through in the next few minutes, hours

days, weeks, will not be the envy of many. But you will not be alone. Here

is my little story.

in 1990, I was minding my own business, living here in Dayton, with my two

little pre-schoolers, when all of a sudden my life was turned upside down.

My elderly Mom (87) then had had one too many anxiety attacks, and in short,

I had to move down there for a month, get the house contents and farm ready

for an auction, pack her up, and bring her to Dayton to live with me. Oh,

and we had to sell her car, see, she was losing her sight and thus the

anxiety attacks (only, that was really the beginning of her heart problems

too). I was in shock for weeks, but I had to do what I had to do, somewhere

(from Heaven) I got the strength to do what needed to be done, and while

Mom did not do well at first, she finally settled. She ended up living with

me for 7 years and after the congestive heart failure attacks became lots

more frequent in the middle of the night (ambulance and all), we finally

decided to put her in a nursing home near me. Took us a few months to find

one she liked and that treated her well, but we did, and she stayed there 4

more years, and died in Sept of 2001 (5 days before 9-11).

The journey was not easy, and sometimes waves of memories pass over me, from

those first days of having to upset her life and force her to sell the farm,

sell all her house contents (3 generations had lived in that beautiful old

farmhouse in Southern Indiana). My sister and I kept alot of memorabilia

and most of the antiques.

I miss her, and while I know not your journey, I will pray for you, and your

Dad. I too hope he does not have to suffer long, may he not tarry

unnecessarily. Also, may the tests be uninvasive and the technicians

patient and your Dad comfortable and not confused or scared. May you be

granted grace, wisdom, and much peace as you sort out the next few minutes,

hours, days. Many are thinking of you, I know.
