Guest guest
Not sure I understand the question but just let me comment that if you return a minimum of 7 (126) on 3 consecutive occasions then you are deemed to be diabetic. And when you're newly diagnosed then your number will fluctuate until the diabetes is brought under control. Take care. Guest guest
If I were between 80 and 100 then I would not be diabetic. This is a blood test that shows what your bg's (blood glucose) has been running for the past 2-3 months. hugs Eunice

I would guess a healthy person who consumes large amounts of sugar/carbs (pop, candy, pasta, etc.) might test quite high for a short period of time. If you go over that number, you may not technically be diabetic, but you definitely have a problem. I tested my husband once, just for kicks, after he ate 2/3 of a box of Cocoa Puffs one morning. His blood sugar tested at 124. Illness can elevate a normally healthy person's blood sugar - I've heard stories of non-diabetics who were hospitalized for various things and tested extremely high during the hospitalization/illness. But if you're not sick or in pain and your blood sugar tests at 180 or 200, you are probably looking at being diabetic, or at the very least " glucose-impaired " . Still, a random reading taken in an unknown context does not make for a diagnosis. That's something much better left for the physicians to do. Since illness CAN elevate a normally healthy person's blood sugar, that is one example of something you would want a doctor to rule out before just assuming diabetes. (Although either way you should probably see a doctor/get a followup if you have an unusually high number and you are not currently diagnosed as diabetic.) Guest guest
The WHO parameters for determining diabetes is 3 fasting tests on consecutive days which are a minimum of 7 (126) The HbA1c test result is an average of the previous 13 weeks and that is also a good indicator. Take care. Barry UK Re: Blood sugar numbers Has your doctor done an A1c test? So if I were you, I would bring this up with your Dr. and go from there. Because if you are Diabetic, the sooner you learn how to treat it, the better you will be. ~~TINA~~ -- Blood sugar numbers Hi, I'm new to all of this, but I was wondering when your numbers are up and down all the time, how do belive you are diabetic. Guest guest
If you are 126 (7) or over from random testing on 3 consecutive days then you're are considered to be diabetic and further tests are generally applied. Take care. Barry UK Re: Blood sugar numbers Anything over 100 is definately considered Diabetic from what I understand.

Hi, If you don't trust your doctor, you may want to get another one. When it comes to diabetes or any illness, you need a doctor you can trust. Otherwise, you are wasting his/her time and your money. In groups, we can only tell you what our doctor recommends for normal numbers. What my doctor thinks is normal for me, may be too high or too low for someone else. I love the support groups, but if I tried to follow all the information that was given, I would be a nervous wreck, probably ready to give up controlling diabetes. If your doctor sets your goal too high, you can set it lower. My doctor doesn't want my A1c to be over 6.3. I want my A1c to be lower so that is what I strive for. We work with our doctor(s) to set numbers that we can achieve. hugs Eunice - Sensible eating, exercise, Positive Attitude, Faith in God gets me through each day
