UGH! Ok I did something really stupid today. I ate 3/4 of a bag of

microwave popcorn today...in about 3 hours, and it's now 6:30 PM and

I feel like I'm going to puke. I wasn't really hungry for supper,

but I ate like 1 tsp of food and that put me over the edge. Is

there any cure? Or did I do irreversable damage by eating that much

popcorn? God I wish I could throw up right now. I never want to see

food again!

---Barb, how far postop are you? I'm 14 months, and I have popcorn

every day. I love it, and it doesn't hurt me, as long as I chew it

to death. LOL. Hope you feel better soon. Lynn

Popcorn. The most harmless binge food I can think of.

Other than your misery now, I doubt you did any permanent damage, except to your

ego, perhaps.

I think it is the ideal food to use when you need that hand-moth thing, like

high anxiety, or along those lines. I don't even care if you load it with

butter. Given the other choices, popcorn is GOOD.

Great : " busy food " . Better than chips or pretzels or whatever other salty

delight might drag you into its grasp.

I'm not against those things every now & then, of course, or a handful as one of

your designated meals. Just NOT grazed, not as a many times a day & not as a

main course more than 1-2X per week. Just for the record.

Barb - I recently started eating popcorn and am able to eat a whole bag in a

sitting sometimes. It crunches down to practically nothing. Perhaps you had a

hard kernel causing you problems? Hope you feel better today.

Oh, I'm sooooo glad to hear you say that, Mom. It does help to ease some of my

anxiety to eat the whole bag of popcorn. Sometimes, I can't quite eat the whole

thing, so then I stop. At least I know not to feel guilty about it.

---, it's so good to see this post, I had been eating

popcorn daily, but figured that might be why I've been on this 2

month plateau. I still have it occassionally, but not every day. But

I still can't break this plateau. I have started riding my bike.

Yes, I'm doing the shakes, and have taken someones' idea and put the

peanut butter in it. In fact, I start out with banana, and then when

I add the peanut butter, it tastes like the peanut butter/banana

sandwich we were all talking about. LOL. It's great! Lynn

Dear Barb,

I'm sorry to hear about your popcorn problem. I had a similiar

experience when I ate popcorn at 2-3 months out. At six 1/2 months post op I

don't have any problems with it.

Take good care and feel better soon.

Love,

Trace
