Guest guest Posted October 9, 2006 Report Share Posted October 9, 2006 's obituary as it appears in Tuesday's Austin American-Statesman. -Wes Ogilvie McKay Otto McKay Otto was born July 8, 1977 in Houston, Texas, and was baptized in Calvary Episcopal, Richmond. For the past six years she has lived in her cabin on the 9E Ranch in Bastrop County. Two of her passions in life were serving her community as a paramedic and using her wonderful creativity as a photographer. Sunday morning, October 8, returning from shooting a wedding, she died in an auto accident near Hondo, Texas. As a student at Westlake High School, she began serving as a volunteer firefighter and on her 18th birthday, she passed her EMT certification. She graduated from the Fire Academy, attended UTSA, Temple College and went on to become certified as a paramedic. She has been serving as a Senior Paramedic in Fayette County. She coupled her work with her new found passion for creative photography in portraiture and weddings, using a photojournalist style. She has received several national awards of recognition. She was an accomplished English rider, and loved to ski and scuba dive. She strived to have God use her in her pursuits of life. She is survived by: her parents Joan (Yelderman) and Kent Bohls of Bastrop, and McKay Otto of Houston; her sister and husband Dakota Ward of Portland, Oregon; and Tom of Houston; Josh and Liz Bohls of Austin; nieces and nephews, Olivia, Dylan, Conrad and ; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 11, 1:00 p.m., Gethsemane Lutheran in Austin, 200 West Lane (183 between IH 35 and Lamar), where affirmed her faith October 25, 1992. Visitation will be Tuesday 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Austin Peel and Son, 607 East lane (183 & 35). Memorials may be given to Gethsemane Lutheran for Mexican Border Ministry which was close to 's heart.
