Guest guest
There appears to be a temporary shortage of Vivonex Pediatric formula. Unfortunatley, I have not stockpiled it and can't get anymore until the end of January. Adele has not done well with anything else (retching) so I do not want to substitute if possible. I have exhausted my local options and am wondering if any of you have any that you no longer use. I will gladly pay any expense to get it here. :-) Thanks, -- mom to Adele (2 1/2) and Margo (3 months) www.brandrup.com username: baby password: sugar

Guest guest
, I don't have any access to Vivonex, and I suspect someone on the list will have some to send to you. But in the off-chance that you need something absolutely immediately, Progestimil, which is broken down into amino acids, the building blocks needed for life, could be a possibility. This is what our daughter used when even breast milk was not tolerated. Guest guest
Oh , we just threw some out (she hadn't been on it in a few years). We had about 5-6 cases in the garage but Graeme noticed that it had expired a while ago, so he just threw it out. I'm sorry! Kennedy did EXTREMELY well on Vivonex back in the day. I hope Adele is able to tolerate something more accessible in the future. > > > There appears to be a temporary shortage of Vivonex Pediatric formula. > Unfortunatley, I have not stockpiled it and can't get anymore until the > end of January. Guest guest
Vivonex is a very expensive, broken down formula (kind of like it's already partially digested) . Kennedy experienced great success with it for a while a few years back when nothing else was tolerable. > > never heard of vivonex, what is it? Guest guest
THank you for the web site ideas to order Vivonex. I ordered some. The cost is out-of-pocket and expensive (maybe I can get reimbursed from insurance?), but I think that is better than trying to switch her. Plus, the shortage is supposed to be temporary. After my experiences in the last few days trying to get it, I won't be surprized if the online supplier emails me that it's backordered . . . but I'll try to think positive tonight. :-) I will let y'all know what happens. No matter what, I have learned a lesson to keep a hidden stash for the future. Vivonex has been the only formula she has not retched with - and I had taken it for granted. I am also going to ask the GI doc about Progestimil (sp). Thank you again. -- mom to Adele (2 1/2) and Margo (3 months) www.brandrup.com username: baby password: sugar > > > >
Guest guest
, yes, that was an amazing find that was able to locate. I hope for you that it does not end up being back-ordered. Your positive attitude is great. As for the Pregestimil, I think I misspelled it in my first post. It is Pregestimil. I used to buy it on the grocery shelf but I don't know if it is still stocked there. Perhaps a pharmacy would have it. It also is expensive. Guest guest
I might have this confused (it has been fifteen years), but I recall was on Vivonex for a very limited time. It is quite a medical food. It is powdered, and when mixed with water, is a very pretty bright yellow clear watery liquid which provides complete nutrition - it almost resembles TPN for IV administration in appearance. It affected 's osmolarity - brought most of his available bodywater to his gut. Since he was so runny, drooly and wet in the sinuses and chest you'd think that would be a good thing - but it dried him up too much and made the mucous really dry and difficult to pass trough his tracheotomy tube - and actually put him into distress..... I only mention it because it is quite different than some of the predigested formulas that are available in the markets - which seem like milk formula but bitter or spoilt. Also the osmolarity thing - I never would have known a thing about it except that we were adversely affected by it! yuka Re: Vivonex Pediatric Formula Needed Vivonex is a very expensive, broken down formula (kind of like it's already partially digested) . Guest guest
- I posted your situation on the G-tube listserve, and I received this reply! I hope this works out for both of you!
