Guest guest
I just had an Echocardigram and it says I have moderate biatrial enlargement. My doctor tells me that this is link to a-fib, but doesnt tell me how or what it is. Does anyone know what biatrial enlargement is?

The primary near term significance of this is that enlarged atria are strongly coorelated with a lower success rate in curing afib through ablation. Bob In Oregon - 69, enlarged atria, ablated 3/2/06, afib returned 3/9/06, still in persistant afib, will see my EP on 4/3/06 to determine where we go from here. --------------------------------- Yahoo! Guest guest
you can assume that he's talking about your atrium being enlarged, but he really should explain in detail, so you know for sure! Atrial enlargment is common in long term afib, unfortunately. _____ From: AFIBsupport [mailto:AFIBsupport ] On Behalf Of creativecopy Sent: Monday, March 20, 2006 10:50 PM To: AFIBsupport Subject: What is moderate biatrial enlargement? Guest guest
Bob - I had slightly enlarged atrium on both sides, but so far my ablation has been successful. We won't know for sure until I'm off all the anti-arrhythmics at the end of may, but so far so good, despite the enlargment! I'm sorry yours came back so quickly... I know how frustrating that would be. Stef , It simply means that both the left and right atria are enlarged.
