Just my luck the hospsital went on total divert just when I was to be

admitted but finally got in after two day (missed 5 doses of my

Sotalol) and was getting worried.

Anyhow went on Tikosyn at 1pm Thursday and into AFIB at 3:30 Friday,

boy was I bummed out. Have a great doctor who showed up in less than

an hour to reassure me that I hadn't had enough doses, only 3 by that

time, to really have had the full effect. He knew I was down about

it and told me not to get upset there were other steps he could take,

both with drugs or abalation. After reading stories here about some

of your doctors, it is nice to know there are doctors out there who

are very caring and responsive to us. Told me he was still going to

send me home the next day even if I was still in AFIB and do

cardioversion on Monday if necessary and made some adjustments to my

other meds. Long story short, it ONLY lasted 6 hours (nightime

AFIB's usally last 10 to 20 hours for me, so that was a plus) and so

far so good.

Here's hoping and praying Tikosyn can cut down on the number of my

AFIB's, even once a month would be great and I can only dream about

better than that.

Barb - in Feb 2004 I was hospitalized to start Tikosyn. I loaded at

1000mcg per day.. on day 3 was cardioverted out of a 6 week afib event,

and sent home on 500 mcg per day. A week later, down in the islands, I

went back into afib. Called home, since the doctor on island had never

heard of Tikosyn, and my cardio recommended upping me to 750 mcg per

day. I converted to NSR after a week at the new dose and stayed in NSR

for 15 months SOLID, with nary a false beat!

Unfortunately the Tikosyn stopped working last fall, but those 15 months

were pretty glorious!

best of luck to you, and don't give up hope yet!

To my knowledge it is not. But you can readily check by contacting

Pfizer. The phone number in the US is

1-800-TIKOSYN.
