Guest guest
United States Alliance of Emergency Medicine (USAEM) www.usaem.org We are happy to announce the formation of USAEM, the United States Alliance of Emergency Medicine, and the opening of our website www.usaem.org. We would like to invite you to go and visit the site, and seriously consider joining us. USAEM is a nonprofit, non-political, charitable and educational organization incorporated in the state of Missouri on June 14, 2006, Flag Day, in response to the recent Institute of Medicine Report on the state of Emergency Medicine in the U.S. The Alliance recognizes that the emergency medical system in this country is near the breaking point. How much worse does it have to get before someone does something about it? We plan on DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT! With your help, your membership and your solidarity, emergency professionals of every type and background will assemble under one uniting organization. This has never been attempted before, but we believe that all emergency professionals have a deep-seated need to work as part of a bigger team towards the welfare of the emergency patient. We intend to bring together all members of the emergency care team: physicians, nurses, EMT's and anyone else caring for the emergency patient. We strive to develop a national evidence-based method to ensure clinical competency and skills among our nation's emergency care professionals. We intend to become Partners In Progress with ACEP, ENA, AAPS, NAEMT, AEP, AAEM, with FEMA, DHHS and with the public and the media. With a UNITED VOICE emergency physician, nurses and EMT's will be able to make a difference. We are NOT concerned with increasing the pay of physicians, of nurses, of EMTs. That is the role of trade unions and guilds. We are simply concerned with the welfare of the emergency patient. We do NOT care where you went to school, where you did your residency, where you received your bachelor's degree, your medical or osteopathic or nursing degree. We are NOT interested in what board certification you hold. So please join us for an annual membership fee of $25 (or $10 for non medical professionals and the general public) and please invite your family, friends and coworkers to join. Go to our website www.usaem.org and read and ask questions. Sincerely, Sonny Saggar
