Guest guest
I understand that NREMT has chosen Pearson VUE as the company that will conduct the computer testing that is supposed to begin in January, 2007. Tonight I attempted to find a Pearson VUE testing site in Texas, from their own website, and Texas is not even listed on their website as having any Pearson VUE test sites. I went to the DSHS EMS page and clicked on the map that came up that shows Pearson approved sites, and there are only 4: Brownsville, Laredo, Beaumont, and Brownwood. The map is impossible to decipher, because there are other " map pins " depicting other areas, but the map legend is a mystery. Some may be proposed sites, but it's impossible to tell what the red circles mean from the page. QUERY: When the computer testing begins, where will students have to go to take their NR tests? The statement is made that there will be contract sites throughout the state? I can find no evidence whatsoever that those have been identified. January is 5 months away. I can see a meltdown here. MAXIE? STEVE? KATHY? HELP! What's going on? What I'm asking is for anyone who has any hard information to put it up so we can see it. Is this going to be yet another debacle? Gene G. Guest guest
We spoke with Moe Veolizeira at Pearson yesterday on the phone. He states that the only Pearson VUE testing centers that will be allowed to administer " Professional " exams were the centers actually owned and operated by Pearson. We then asked where the nearest one to Abilene was and his response was either El Paso or Ft Worth. He stated that the only way a non Pearson owned center could give the NR was if NR explicitly authorized them to allow this. Another interesting issue was he said that you had to be open from 7-7 5 days a week. We asked several technical questions in which he could not answer and referred us to Sandy Majors who is supposedly the person in charge of the NR account, as of right now she has not returned our calls. If this is truly the case I can foresee some significant issues with getting our students tested. Right now DSHS has about 15 sites and they cannot provide enough tests to get students tested in a timely manner and all they give is ECA and EMT-B. Texas tests an incredible number of people each year, if someone doesn't nip this in the bud and make sure our students can take their exam in a timely manner following course completion the NR pass rates are going to be even more unacceptable than they are right now. Just my 2 cents Lee NREMT testing I understand that NREMT has chosen Pearson VUE as the company that will conduct the computer testing that is supposed to begin in January, 2007. Guest guest
The last time I saw a presentation on this, both NR and Pearson VUE people (both Bill Brown and Rob Wagner were in attendance) stated there would be centers strategically located around the state to meet our needs. When we looked at the centers and their locations, few were designated as NR sites at that time....and that was to change soon. We were told that any center that administers the NCLEX would also administer the NR exams. Looking at that, I think we are covered. If not, additional centers were to be added. But then....they are National Registry and could have changed the plan without telling anyone. Who knows!
