I was first troubled by AF when I was 13. This first episode

consisted of a re-entrant tachicardia which really scared me!!

Unfortunately, the nurses and doctors where not so forthcoming with a

diagnosis. I was left with this unpredictable rapid heart rhythm that

was not believed or treated.

Over time, I developed a way of controlling the panic and stopping the

episodes. This worked for a time and I learnt to live with it.

When I reached the age of 26, I was admitted to hospital with chronic

chest pains and tachicardia. This was when I was first diagnosed with AF.

I was tried on many different Beta blockers and the option of RFA was

never mentioned to me. Thanks to the NHS.

I did find out about a surgeon who trains other surgeons on EPS and

RFA from an NHS hospital near to where I was living.

Now I am only days away from subsequent treatment.

I only hope others where not passed around with this problem and told

that it was non-existent, like I was.

What kind of experiences do others have of diagnosis??

Regards,
