Guest guest
I just got my first post-op labs back which I posted a couple days ago for advice. I did not that my PTH was also High. Guest guest
Mine is high, but now is only 1 off the top number. I'm looking for my last series of labs (10/25) to see how it's come down. I do 4 a day, but I also do the ostivone and try to do the boron. I use her osteo-enhance calcium - don't know if that's the super calcium or not. Guest guest
Vitalady, did you take more at one setting - i.e., more than 500 at a time, or did you take more often in the day? I know you can't prescribe, but I was wondering what you and Don did personally./ Pam Re: Bad Day(gina) I have had the PTH done. The doctor told me the result was normal. Guest guest
ok, I need this splained! LOL I thought I was supposed to take 2 of Vitalady's calcium capsules twice a day, that would be 4 total. Now I am hearing that I should only take 1 at a time? Man I could spend all day just scheduling pills! Is it ok to take with my multi-vit? I take my trinsicon alone as it has iron in it, or I should say I take the trinsicon with my blood pressure med (which by the way has just been cut in half!) HELP! Guest guest
Calcium - 1 of Vitalady's pills, 4x per day, I take mine with all my other pills, except iron Trinsicon alone - no other meds or food (although you can take it with a protein shake as long as you don't make it with milk) Don't know about the BP med. I take pills 5x per day. Iron first thing in the morning, 4 sets of pills throughout the rest of the day, sometimes an extra calcium somewhere in there if I think about it at the right time (at least 2 hours after my last pills and at least 2 hours before my next set). ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comR http://www.5dollarhosting.com (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! Guest guest
Phyllis - We can only absorb about 500 mg. of calcium at a time. So, yep, it's 1 at a time, 4 X a day. I have a pill sorter that has sections for Breakfast, Lunch, Supper and Bedtime. You can do it, it just takes practice. Take care. Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Guest guest
Hi Sophia, PTH stands for parathyroid hormone. I've cut and pasted a wonderful bit wrote some time ago that explains problems with PHT caused by renal disease. Cy I'll take a stab at this. Your parathyroid glands make parathyroid hormone which tells your kidneys to make a hormone called Calcitrol which helps to regulate the levels of calcium and phosphorus in your blood. When your kidneys no longer make enough of that hormone, it causes the parathyroid gland to work overtime making more parathyroid hormone in an effort to tell the kidneys they need to make more calcitrol. However, when your kidney function is too low, and no longer able to make enough Calcitrol, the high levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) in your blood causes your body pulls calcium and phosphorus out of bones. One of the other functions of PTH is to tell your kidneys to get rid of the excess phosphorus in your kidneys, and when your kidneys no longer can do that, the levels of phosphorus also build up hence the need for low phosphorus diets. neph results >> >> hi laura.. >> as I mentioned I had my session with the nephrologist and I > don't >> see him >> again until december. Guest guest
HI Sophia, I see Cy forwarded you the email on Parathyroid hormone (PTH) but I just wanted to add that as you draw near to end stage, PTH is very commonly elevated. I have mine monitored now too. In a message dated 8/3/2005 11:37:49 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, yipee_ladybug@... writes: Hi , What's PTH? Guest guest
Thank you Cy, I vaguely remember seeing this post, now that you have posted it again. Of course, it was prior to my needing pre-care, so I skimmed it really quick the first time. Sophia > >> Hi Elsie, > >> > >> How wonderful to be on a 6 month schedule with your Neph.
