Guest guest
Hi - I'm the mom to a 4 year old apraxic son. My son has major constipation issues (slow motility, withholding and refusing to sit on the potty to poop -- he uses a diaper). He has been peeing in the potty regularly for over 1 year. has been kind enough to give me some pointers on constipation. My son will not take milk of magnesia and the only nectar he will drink is pear. Which seemed to do nothing for him. He only has a bowel movement if he takes exlax. His pediatrician has suggested switching from exlax to Miralax. I've heard not so pleasant info about Miralax on this site but I can't remember exactly what was said. I'm not trying to sound like a know it all -- but I feel even if does well on the Miralax, when we stop it he'll go back to his regular ways. All the drs. have suggested not pursuing the " sitting on the potty to poop " and I have no problem with that but I'm at my wits end. I don't want to always have to give him something to make him poop. We've triend stickers/rewards for a poop but that doesn't even him any more incentive to make. I'm at my wits end. Should I try the milk of magnesia again even though my pediatrician says Miralax is better. Or do I give the Miralax a try. Anyone with info or similar experiences, please contact me. You can even email me off line. I just have a " gut " feeling that there is another way. Thanks everyone. Patti
