Guest guest
My son is 6 years old and has been having some very difficult behaviors at school. I have had the opportunity to observe him and am struck by the class he is in. He is not being challenged academnically and does not have appropriate peer models. Has anyone had similar experiences and how have you dealt with it and with your schools. I believe he needs to be pushed into a higher academic and cognitive class and I believe this lack of challenge is a major source of frustration for him. THanks for any help/advice. Guest guest
Barbara, We are having the same issue. The problem that we get into is that as long as your child is on target for his age you are at the mercy of the school system until First Grade. It would be at that time that the children are tested and if they are overachievers they should be, at that time put into an accelerated class. We must all remember that the law states that our children are to be given a free and equal education, NOT the BEST education. If you get lucky like we are the teacher is allowing Garland to read Kinder pre-decodeables. That is the only help we are getting for now. You may need to look more closely at the behaviors and try to work through that to help you get more. We have done that also. Best of luck. , Randy & Garland Goodwin ---- rbwarter wrote: ============= My son is 6 years old and has been having some very difficult behaviors at school.
