Guest guest
i think that is a very good reply. I think the removing her breasts because it " might " prevent sexual abuse irked me because its getting close to that that whole thing about how women shouldnt wear short skirts etc etc etc.... Hell, why dont we go remove ALL Intellectual disabled womens breasts then!
Guest guest
Belinda, First of, you and are entitled to your opinion. However, according to the family's own words (from their blog), preventing sexual abuse was not the main reason her breasts were removed. Their decision to remove her breasts was more because there is a family history of large-breasted women and they felt that her wheel-chair straps across large breasts would be uncomfortable. They also felt given her mental status, the body of a 9 year old girl was more dignified for her vs. a full grown women. I'm not saying that I agree with what they did or that I would make the same choice if I were in their situation. I just think if a person is going to criticize that family's choice, then it should be done based on having all of the facts.
