Guest guest
I was asked to post this on the list. From: Pete Wolf Sent: Tuesday, November 14, 2006 11:28 AM To: Al Subject: FW: Al, Could you post this on the EMS list server for me? I haven't posted anything in so long I guess I've got to reapply! Thanks, Pete Hello All, Cheek wanted me to pass this along to everyone on the EMS list server. is resigning his appointment to GETAC at the end of the year, but will be at the GETAC meetings and EMS Conference in Dallas later this month. I'm sure he'd enjoy visiting with each of you. Pete Wolf D. Cheek 1732 Alamo Court Clyde, Texas 79510 Governor Rick P.O. Box 12428 Austin, Texas 78711 November 7, 2006 Dear Governor : I was appointed by former Governor Bush to the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC) in January of 2000. I was re-appointed to the council by you in January 2002. I was involved with EMS and Trauma System development prior to those appointments with my involvement of the Emergency Healthcare Advisory Council (EHCAC), of which I chaired, until the council was replaced by GETAC. It has been my honor to serve the people of Texas and represent Texas professional firefighters on each of these councils over the last 12 years. The opportunities I have had to work with the many stakeholders involved in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Trauma Systems have been one that I will always cherish. Recently my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has undergone surgery and started treatments for this disease which statistically affects 1 out of 8 women. Although her prognosis is very good, I feel I must reprioritize my activities and energy to be more focused on my family. It is for this reason that I offer this letter of resignation as a member of the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council effective December 31, 2006. I appreciate your efforts in working with our council to address the many issues that face pre hospital emergency care in Texas. Through your support of our efforts, the EMS and Trauma System in Texas continues to develop to address the needs of the people of Texas. The efforts of the members of the council, as well as the stakeholders we represent, are making great strides in addressing our EMS and Trauma System issues. It is my hope you will continue to support those efforts to make Texas the model for other states to follow. After my resignation is effective, the Texas State Association of Firefighters (TSAFF) will submit names for your consideration for my replacement. I appreciate the opportunity that I was given to serve and represent the professional firefighters of Texas. I have assured the president of the TSAFF, Guy , that I will help the new appointee in any way I can to make the transition a smooth one. Thank you for what you do to support EMS and Trauma Systems in Texas and thank you for your support of professional firefighters in Texas. Sincerely, D. Cheek, R.N., EMT Cc: E.
