Woman's Death Goes Unnoticed On Local Flight

Nobody Realized The Sleeping Elderly Woman Was Actually Dead

CBS4 News) FT. LAUDERDALE-- The next time you take a flight, you might want

to make sure the passenger sleeping next to you is really just taking a nap.

That's because a 78-year old woman died while on a cross-country flight out

of Fort Lauderdale and everyone on the plane thought she was just sleeping.

Officials with Delta Airlines said the woman died on flight 503 to Salt Lake

City over the weekend.

According to the flight crew and passengers, no one realized she had passed

away until after the plane landed.

Flight attendants and some passengers said they only realized what had

happened once the plane began to empty out and she didn't move.

One EMT at the scene said the woman was dead long enough for rigor mortis to

set in.

An autopsy is being performed to determine how the woman died.
