Lawrence,

There are others that will probably know more on the subject. However,

this is what I know...

Send your resume to jobs@... That's the address for everyone to

send them to. The mad rush to get people over there is over. Now, it's

just replacement people.

As for medics, they're only looking for EMT-P.

I hope this helps

Just a word of advice for you all that are looking at the overseas market: Do

NOT quit your current job until you have a plane ticket in hand from the company

that hires you. I just got back from Qatar late last year, and saw several

inbound sheets that never made it, and then we find out that their contract was

recended for whatever reason. Also speak from personal experience with both the

AIM Group, and Zapata. Just be careful guys. If you want any further info, feel

free to email me. To those that get over there, it's a helluva time, and I'd do

it all over again.

Jeff:

I resent your comments. I hire Medics for AIM....and I have never

encouraged a Medic to quit their position unless we have a contract for

them..in fact, I always make a point of telling those under consideration

that unless I am sending them a ticket - they should not consider themselves

employed .

I know that many see the opportunity to big bucks and take it upon

themselves to decide they may have the job, but unless you have a contract,

and I have issued you a plane ticket to deploy to our office here in Houston

for medical and CAC, and then forward to Iraq...you do not have a job with

AIM.

We have an excellent reputation for the way we treat our personnel, and we

pay well. Manmy applicants want to go to Iraq, but there are only a few

positions to go around...

I will admit you are correct on one issue though...Government Contracts can

be issued and rescinded on a moments notice ...so anyone should think

carefully before they leap into this type of arena.

Perhaps, you should explain your comment further.....

Ok, to stop the flaming personal emails, the AIM Group, and Zapata neither were

companies, to my direct knowledge, that terminated a contract with anyone, after

it was signed. I will not reveal the companies, dont ask, as my intent is to

caution those interested about the general gov't contract process, not to attack

individual companies. The 2 companies above were used as they are ones that I

have had personal contact with, not that I was wronged by them, but that I have

been through their application process. I apologize if the use of their names

were taken out of context...

Game on..

Mrs. Marks, if you'll read the comments below, I never said I was wronged by a

company, but that I have seen it happen while in the middle east. Shall we

continue this off the list please? I'm sure there are other topics of more

interest to the group. :)

I don't know Jeff, but when I read his reply about the AIM Group and Zapata

(the original reply, which is now the topic of the flaming) I personally did

not see it as an attack on either company. I took it as sound advice to

pursue with *any* company that offers such contracts.

I can see how the sentence " Just be careful guys " following that could lead

one to think AIM and Zapata were " the bad guys " , but sheesh... if one thing

I learned about this list, never take anything posted to the literal word

(and assume correct sentence placement ;-) ). No matter how many times I

read them over and over, there's a whole mess of posts and replies that even

to this day, I still don't understand.

Maybe my input represents only one person's opinion out of hundreds. Who

knows how the others here handled Jeff's reply.

But one thing that does bother me is the comment, " Shame on you Mr. Ellison!

Let us hope that your medical skills are as swift under fire...as your

fingers! " I may be asking for more trouble than I really want today, but

since you are actively seeking paramedics, I personally believe such

comments are now detrimental to your cause, and worse, have reflected poorly

upon the company you represent. As I've heard a few times by an old friend

in reference to his ex-wife: The whiskey got soured... time to find a new

bottle. {grin} Other services are out there competing with AIM; who knows,

Jeff may be one hellava Paramedic. As I said, I don't know him. But his

skills in medicine deserve respect in their own right, irregardless of his

opinion about other things.

Just my yankee two cents worth, probably useless in Texas. ;-)

Its MS..not MRS....but my title aside.....the problem lies in the fact that

you insinuated that you had referenced your " advice " to other Paramedics

based on your own personal experience " with both AIM Group and Zapata " and

the underlying implication was the fact that your experience was a negative

one.I cannot speak for Zapata, only AIM.

As you said, we have better things to do, however, I urge you to use caution

when writing in future.

As a footnote, I will add this...Obviously, if I took the time to review

your credentials, I must have deemed you worthy of the position in question.

If you were not selected, it was merely because another Paramedic had

additional experience, or skills that are a prerequisite for work under

fire. There is an expression that we utilize " from many, few are chosen. " We

feel that we have a specific responsibility to all the personnel placed in

our care ..and we take great pride in recruiting only the best to work on

our Mobile Medical Teams in Iraq.

I wish you well Mr. Ellison.

Ms is acceptable to either single or married women. The " opposite " of

'Mrs' (other than 'Mr') is 'Miss.'

Mrs = married

Miss = single

Ms = either/unknown

The one thing I have come to learn Jeff through

personal experience is that there are people on this

list with VERY SENSITIVE feelings. And some of those

people cannot obviously read through an apology. And

in our line of work we do not have the time for people

like this because we are forced to spend way too much

time trying to apologize for something that was

misunderstood. The reamrk about your skills was

uncalled for and is immature of . I reserve the

title of MS. for people who act like adults not just

because they aren't married. AS adults we have to

decide what is important and what is not. I find

NOTHING offensive in your post nor did I come to a

conclusion that AIM or Zapata are bad companies. All

you did was offer a word of advice to any prospective

employees seeking employment in your field. Kudos to

you.
