Guest guest
Hi, well I haven't left the group, like I was planning, ya'll are all so wonderful and the information you share is invaluable. Yesterday I went to the health department, They gave me a card and said I qualify for the 0 pay adult clinics, but I have to go to the clinic, seems to be a waste of thier time, since I already have a mamogram and an ultrasound. I have gone over the radiologists report with a fine tooth comb so to speak and checked every web site possible for any terms I wasn't familiar with. Seems the radiologist put down that I had a lumpectomy done 14 years ago that was non cancerous, which is an error. The surgeon who removed the lump 14 years ago told me it was malignant but that they had got it all. I did develope a cyst in the place the lump was removed which he (the surgeon) had to drain 3 different times. When I was supposed to go back to see him my life had gone quite crazy because my ex husband had just been diagnosed with leukemia and was given 6 weeks to live. I had just had our 3rd child 5 months before his diagnoses. as I am sure you all can imagine that was very difficult. I was 27 and he had just turned 30. He underwent chemo treatments however his leukemia (chronic myelogenous leukemia) accelerated and they had only one option a bone marrow transplant. He did not have any family that was a perfect match, couldn't wait to find a non related donor so had to go through an experimental mis-matched bone marrow transplant. This all occurred within a year and a half after my lumpectomy. Since the surgeon had said it was a cyst, and if he had to drain it one more time he was going to remove that section of my right breast. Of course with a husband dying, and 3 small children, I had to put my health on hold. I could go on actually I had but I deleted it. I kind of got lost in my story. it's a long one I am applying for medicaide, I have called the american cancer society, I have a call in to the susan komen chapter in my state. I have been on every website I can. I do know what my radiological report means to a certain extent. I am trying to remain positive, to not whine, at times that is difficult. I don't have custody of my children and without a definitive diagnosis of bc it is apparently impossible to qualify for medicaide in the state of florida if you are between the ages of 19 and 65, a US citizen, childless, whether you are married or not. I don't want to open a policy debate for my state or my country here but I would like to pass on some information that might be interesting to other's. Every form I have filled out for assistance has asked what my RACE is. I don't understand how that information is important in determining anyones need for medical assistance. I also discovered that if you are not a US citizen they have special programs for financial and medical assistance at least in the state of Florida. I guess I am weird I think everyone no matter whether they are a citizen or not whether they have children or not and no matter what thier race is should recieve medical assistance if they have a need like a suspicion of a major illness like Cancer of any kind. I do plan on bringing this information to the attention of people with access to the media, like those you mentioned. I don't know if it will help or not. I may just be barking up the wrong tree so to speak but I think it is worth a try. Lori Re: (unknown) Oh, Lori: Please check out your state's Medicaid program. Guest guest
Thanks, Lori, for not leaving the group. There is strength and support here that does not come from anywhere else. Lots of time the " race " question is for statistical purposes and does not have political implications. I hate the question of marital status on the forms. What difference should that make? Oh, well. I hope this means that you will receive the medical assistance that you need. You have your " plate full " and I certainly will be keeping you and your family in my prayers. Contact your legislators, too. They can step up to the bat for you in ways that you can never imagine. Take care and may you find strength and power and wisdom in the days to come. Guest guest
fwiw, race has nothing to do with it - those questions are asked because the government wants to capture information about demographics. nothing more. marisa > hey all well to do a bit of whining myself, I have a mamogram and ultra sound with the results of suspicious, well I am unemployed and I am trying to get the biopsy recommended done, but with no $ no one wants to do it, I just keep getting passed from one person to the next. Guest guest
Thank you jan for everything, I also understand the marital question actually I have recieved many responses and thank you for all the information to everyone. I also want to say great news for all who find out thier cancer is gone. I hope someday Cancer is cured, prevented, or just obsolete. I agree with the anology that no matter what the weapon just kill it, that was cute and true at the same time. Lori Re: (unknown) Oh, Lori: Please check out your state's Medicaid program. Guest guest
We're used to those around us calling us lazy.. doesn't make it right, and it doesn't make it hurt any less. How high is your TSH? By suppressing TSH, as in approaching zero, while keeping the thyroid hormones from going over their ranges, you suppress the thyroid gland, that can often lead to the shrinking of nodules. If your TSH is a bit high, and the 'high' is what I suspect it is.. the problem with the nodules not shrinking and your hypo symptoms not improving is likely due to your dose being to low or your body not converting enough hormone. Do you happen to have copies of your labs, with ranges, so that we can see what is being monitored and what the numbers look like? This kind of stuff happens a lot... again.. doesn't make it right.. but we know to watch for it.... Topper () On Fri, 11 May 2007 11:05:58 +0200 (CEST) sarah zanelli writes: Hi Everyone Im new .. Guest guest
We need the ranges for the Free T4 and the Free T3. Your TSH is low, that is good... but knowing where the Frees are falling in their ranges will tell if you can still increase your dose and get that TSH lower, the lower the TSH (without the frees going over range too far) the less stimulation to the nodules... If your TSH has been consistently this low then it could be that the nodules will need to be removed. I'm just one that likes to look at the entire picture before doing drastic things... like knives and things.... Have you been on the 112 mcg dose for most of the six years? How long have you been on it? I'd still like to see ranges.. to see how the Frees compare to each other.... Were they on the sheet with your levels? ... Yeah.. I'm a picky snot.. .sorry. Guest guest
Those are the three needed, so you have the right ones. I think she would like for you to post the ranges for each result alongside them. Different labs use different standards of measure for these tests. Do you remember ever having antibodies testing, as in autoimmune thyroiditis testing? Guest guest
The term "Vulvodynia" is used to represent any number of vulvar pain conditions. It simply means vulvar pain. It isn't a real diagnosis at all in my opinion. Nobody needs to tell any patient they have vulvar pain if they have it and telling somebody they have vulvodynia is ridiculous as that is all it means. "Vulvar Vestibulitis" is a diagnosis of a particular breed of vulvar pain that seems to involve nerve damage (small fiber nerves) in the vestibule area around the vaginal opening. I believe that it is the result of an autoimmune reaction where the nerves are being attacked by antibodies (probably IgA because it is mucus membrane area). If one could figure out what is causing the reaction (what food probably and not an allergy), what is causing the destruction to the nervous system, which likely is in more than one spot on the body, she would be well ahead of most. I don't however know of any study that has attempted to find these answers. The studies seem to be those of how particular pharmaceuticals react on the tissue or which ones relieve pain and not what is causing it which as far as I am concerned is the only way to fix it without surgery which doesn't guarantee that it won't happen in a different spot in the area. Just my opinion. Arline Subject: (unknown)To: VulvarDisorders Date: Thursday, September 25, 2008, 8:54 PM Is Vulvodynia the same a Vulvar Vestibulitis Syndrome? What's the difference between the two.
