Bridgette,

Hi. Sorry to be so brief but I am late for an appointment and just saw your

message to the group. I am on my way home now, and I know the group will

give you a lovely welcome tomorrow (most are US based and are all sleeping

now!).

I just didn't want you to have to wait until tomorrow to hear from us. I am

sorry for what you have been through, and I hope you really find some

comfort and healing here.

I will be in contact with you tomorrow.

Good Afternoon to Everyone,

Sorry this is my first letter to you and I don't know if this is correct so

I will just type away anyway. My name is Brigitte and I am married with one

son 11 months and I'm 28 years old.

My story begins with the fact that we just lost our 2nd child on 7 aug 01.

I had an ectopic and the baby was 8 weeks old. I was heamoraging and had

emergency surgery. I have now 4 holes in my tummy, I'm extremely emotional

and I lost my left tube.

I'm devastated and am extremely worried about it happening on the other

side.

I want to know if anyone can tell me about whether I can store the eggs that

are left in my ovary on that side just in case it happens again.

Anyway thats it in a nutshell I suppose.

I live in Perth, Western Australia.

Bye for now

Brigitte

Hello, Brigitte,

I am sooo sorry for you loss. Please know that all the emotions you are feeling

are totally normal. It is a horrible nightmare and it will take time to " heal "

though we never forget what happened. I found much peace, support and hope from

this group, the girls here are wonderful and very understanding. I don't really

have an answer to your question but I too lost my tube (lost my baby Dec. 00)

please, don't give up hope, many women here have gotten pg with all one tube!!!

Do you know the stat of your remaining tube? Take care and again, I am very

sorry for your loss.

R,

Have you been having any pms symptoms? Is your cycle usually longer than 28

days? You people who can wait so long to do a hpt just drive me up the wall.

I've done them before WHILE af was here. I guess b/c af came with my ep and I

know a few women who had af several months into their pg. Anyway, just being

nosey.

Oh Boliver, you are so right. Darn best sandwich on the planet. Wonder how it

would be in a soft tortilla? giggle. That I can handle.

Hugs,

It seems to me that you have not tried a Mayo and Banana sandwich

yet. Of course they are really good if you add some peanut butter as

well. Makes me want one as I write this. Too bad I cannot stomach

bread.

Remember onions are high in iron. We need to keep our iron levels

up. And peanut butter is high in protein. Sounds like a good

combination to me.

Useless for us.

But IRON in onions? OH man, what a painful way to get it, even if we had the

wherewithal to absorb it. I'd prefer spinach! It's packed with iron, calcium &

potassium. Too danged bad it isn't worth a plug nickel to anyone who has a

bypassed stomach.

Krissy, they both have advantages and disadvantages. Actually, their

advantage is also their disadvantage.

The proximal is better for absorption of vitamins and nutrients from food -

however the more absorption, the potentially slower the weight loss and more

difficult the maintenance.

However, you will still need to supplement for those things that our body

absorbs/creates in the duodenum, because that is what is bypassed for all of

us, no matter whether proximal or distal.

Pam

(unknown)

Please help me, What is the difference between proximal & distal? I

have heard one is beeter for absorbsion of vitamins & nutrients.

Please explain.

Thanks, Krissy

Krissy, see if this answers your questions:

Cheers!

Sharon in D.C.

Proximal and distal refer to the length of bypassed small intestine. The distal

bypass will

sometimes only leave 1 meter of common channel, that is to say they will by pass

several meters

of the intestine. The distal procedure has a lot more malabsorption and

consequently more

malnutrition and side effects which must be carefully monitored. Check out

www.asbs.org for a

good description of all the surgeries.

I'm waiting for insurance approval from United Healthcare. I've read

the benefits portions and this is all I can find that talks about

weight related issures not covered:

" Weight loss programs whether or not they are under medical

supervision. Weight loss programs for medical reasons are also excluded. "

Is WLS consider a weight loss program? Does anyone have any thoughts

on this? I would really appreciate it.

Dear ,

I don't think that WLS (weight loss surgery) is a " weight loss

program, " it's surgery. Some plans have specific exclusions for WLS.

I recommend that you call your insurance company and ask to speak to a

representative. He/she will be able to tell you what is covered and what is

not.

Take good care and God bless your WLS journey.

Hi Alaa,

Fatigue is certainly common with IgAN. Your IgAN is very very mild

with near normal levels, but fatigue can still be caused by IgAN.

Walking does not cause hematuria. The most common cause is a viral

infection, and it normally clears up after recovering from the virus.

hi all

Alaa:

Being tired is a major complaint for many kidney diseases. When your kidneys are

not removing all the toxins from your blood, it just wears you down. I would

sleep like a rock at night and still wake up tired.

As for walking, I honestly cannot answer that because it never happened to me.

Thanks,

diagnosed with Afib two years ago. After being unsuccessfully treated with

various medicines I had an ablation in July 05. For the first 5 months I felt

very good but in the last three months the Afib has escalated again. Two weeks

ago I was taken off my arrythmia meds (Sotolol - 80mg X 2 daily) and put on a

heart monitor so my EP could determine what was really happening. After about a

week off the Sotolol I began to feel almost like my old self. I could detect a

few fibs here and there but none of the difficult side effects such as

dizzyness, weakness, etc. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience.

I've long since been wondering if I am over-medicated since I take both Sotolol

and Benicar for high blood pressure and have always had difficulty

with terrible dizzyness. My BP fluctuates badly and

drops quite low. I see my EP in April and will go over all this with him -

just interested to hear if anyone has had similar experience. Thanks to all.

Hi ann,

After my third ablation I was in flutter for four months straight. I was on

rhythmol the

whole time, a drug which had previously worked well for me at keeping me out of

afib/

flutter and sometimes converting me back to NSR. A week after I stopped taking

rhythmol,

my heart went into NSR and I've been there ever since (except for a couple of

times, which

I still consider to be within the healing time from an ablation). I needed to be

on rhythmol

after the ablation to lessen the strain on my heart, but I do believe there is a

time that

anti-arrhythmics can end up having an arrhythmic effect. After all, the point of

an ablation

is to give you a " normal " heart again and drs. don't go around giving ordinary

people in

NSR the drugs that most of us are on. I still take a beta blocker every day, but

no anti-

arrhythmics. If you have less afib without sotalol, then maybe you don't need

it.

Interested to hear what your EP has to say.

Lori,

Don't leave the group. Talk to the Social worker at your hospital or the Patient

Advocate. There are hospitals that will write off a bill if the person is in

need. If your hospital doesn't, ask for the name of one that does. There IS help

out there. Also contact the American Cancer Society for recommendations and

help. I will keep you in my prayers.

Oh, Lori:

Please check out your state's Medicaid program. Check out the American Cancer

Society and the Komen Foundation. Surely there is some help somewhere for

you. If nothing else, write to some of the celebrities like Tyra Banks or

Orpah's Angel Network or Montel , etc.

I wish I had a pocketful of money to give but alas, I don't. Please keep in
