Guest guest
Hi ann - I definitely think there is a range that's theraputic for each person and if you don't meet it, or if you exceed it, there can be consequences. I felt that I was overmedicated on tikosyn, before I quit it. I had 3 events in the fall over a 2 month period, and after the third was bumped to the highest dose. I subsequently had 5 more events in less than a month after starting the new dose. They were hard and fast and the only one that converted itself was the one I was in when I stopped taking the tikosyn in preparation to switch to rhythmol. In the two days with no additional medication, the afib event became very mild and then converted to NSR, which is rare for me. When I asked the doctors about the possibility of overmedication they said not possible. I'm still convinced I was. (unknown) I am new to this group and appreciate reading all input from members - it's been encouraging to know that I'm not alone in my experience with afib. I am 57 years old and was diagnosed with Afib two years ago. After being unsuccessfully treated with various medicines I had an ablation in July 05. For the first 5 months I felt very good but in the last three months the Afib has escalated again. Two weeks ago I was taken off my arrythmia meds (Sotolol - 80mg X 2 daily) and put on a heart monitor so my EP could determine what was really happening. After about a week off the Sotolol I began to feel almost like my old self. I could detect a few fibs here and there but none of the difficult side effects such as dizzyness, weakness, etc. I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience. I've long since been wondering if I am over-medicated since I take both Sotolol and Benicar for high blood pressure and have always had difficulty with terrible dizzyness. My BP fluctuates badly and drops quite low. I see my EP in April and will go over all this with him - just interested to hear if anyone has had similar experience. Thanks to all. ann --------------------------------- Yahoo! Mail Use Photomail to share photos without annoying attachments.
