I am not sure if the group is aware of this or not, but on Friday

December 21, Star of Texas EMS closed it's doors of operation, much to

the suprise of it's employees. I was on duty that day, and was told

that afternoon to remove all of my personal belongings from the station

as it was to be locked. We were not given a reason for closing, and

were not informed as to when we might receive our final paychecks.

Finding out now that all of the administrative telephone numbers that I

had, both home and cell, have been turned off, I am wondering if we

will ever be paid. Any suggestions or ideas from the group. What a

lousey thing to do before Christmas.

I will gladly hang with you and provide support. Next, get to the Workforce

commission and use the Texas Payday Law to recover your wages, time is of the

essence because you have to find the money trail before its gone. Start looking

How can an operation shut down like this without anyone knowing about it? Who is

going to run the 911 calls? Someone had to know about the shut down if they had

to make other arrangements for 911 dispatch. I am not familiar with this type of

operation, but it doesn't sound like it is very efficient if the citizens don't

have any idea if they are going to get service or not when requested??

We were a small private non-911 service. We provided MICU transports for the

local hospital and nursing homes.

Well what is the story there? That might be a red flag for future reference when

working for this type of service.

Star of Texas EMS ceased to provide 911 EMS services to the city of Portland

in April or May (I can't remember) of 2007. The new contract is held by

Guardian EMS currently. To my knowledge, they haven't done any type of 911

service since I left the company in June of '07. I hope any former employees

out here have luck in recovering their wages.
