I am 28 yrs old,and at 24 started having parox afib.

I am new to this site, and hope to meet fllow afibbers.

I have been in and out of hospital and have had 2 ablations, but my afib

came back.

Its a juggling game betwwen the effects of afib and the medication.

I have suffered terrible side afffects from meds.

Atenalol gave me real breathing problems.

Flecainide was awful-i felt numb to life,i didnt have emotions(sounds

weird but is best that i can describe it)

Warfarin-migraines-never had migraines till warfarin

I just wanted to say dont let it beat you, your not alone.I feel your

pain also.

I am now waiting to see my cardio after afib returned after 2nd

ablation, like you,its hard to accept a lifetime of afib and meds, but we

keep going.

Feel free to contact me,its nice to know there are other afibbers,

Mimixx

Hi Mimi - I'm sorry your ablations didn't work so far.. where did you have them

done, and by whom? And how long ago was the last one?

Hi,thanks for your message.

My first ablation i was sedated and in theatre for 7 1/2 hours, but i

kept moving around a lot(i have no memory of it)so it was deemed

failture. My second one i was under GA and it lasted 6 hours, and worked,

I was afib free for about 6 months and then gradually the attacks came

back and have now returned back to being daily events.

I was in Oxford JR hospital under Dr Bashirs fantastic care.

I am seeing cardio the 15th of feb and i hope to be tested for sleep

apnea as well as my afib and forgetting to breath at night come hand in

hand,so for me i hope there is a link.

As for the afib i dont know what the next plan of action will be,if

they will try ablation again or not-all will be revealed soon, lol

I think there is a definite link between my a fib (which always

started when I was asleep) and sleep apnea. Since starting on the

bipap machine Sept 1 I have not had a fib except when prescribed cough

syrup with hydrocodone, a big mistake that put me into long sessions

of a fib the two times I took it. I hope you find relief using the

cpap machine if you indeed have sleep apnea. My apnea (at the severe

level)is not completely controlled right yet, but is reduced in

frequency. I am hoping that has helped control fib at least for the

time being.

Sorry about your AF return.

I do believe I would investigate the maze procedure after 2 failed

ablations. I had the maze in 1998 and have been af and medication

free ever since. You are much to young to put up with AF for years.

I take it you are in GB, and you are on their medical system, so I

don't know much about it or what kind of options you have.

They do a lot oa maze procedures there, so it could be possible.

I wish you the best.

Jack
