Guest guest
Hi all, I have a ? about 30 day monitors... I am getting one on Friday just to check on some flutters and skipped beats I have been having. Do these monitors only record when you press the button? The reason I ask is because mine are several times through the day, but only last for a couple of seconds so there is no way I would be able to press it when it happens and catch it unless the monitor was able to back up a minute or so. I had heard that the 24 hour monitors do record even when you do not press anything, but I was told by the nurse they want to use this one in case I go a couple days w/o the fluttering or skipped beats. Any info on the 30 day monitor is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Rob
Guest guest
Rob - I've not had one of these 30 day monitors, but several people here were talking about them lately, and I think they do record all the time (I think the point is to catch those little quickie odd beats and runs). Apparently pushing the button just " marks " that section so that whoever reads it can go to that spot and take a look/listen without having to search through 30 days of recordings. Whoever provided you with the monitor should be able to tell you how it works though. Guest guest
> Rob: I have worn both the 24-hour " Holter Monitor " , and the 30-day " Event Monitor " . It is my understanding that the 24-hour monitor records all the time, and that the " button " merely marks a spot in the recording about which you have a comment or concern. But the 30-day monitor is a " loop " monitor. It records all the time, but " loops " (records back over itself) at the end of a period of time. I don't remember that time period, but let's say it is 5 minutes. That means you always have the last 5 minutes in this temporary area. If you press the " button " it dumps those preceeding 5 minutes and the next 5 minutes to a more permanent section of memory. So even if you felt a single skipped beat --- and pressed the button, they would be able to analyze a period of time before and after that " event " . , Charlotte NC > Hi all, > > I have a ? about 30 day monitors... > > I am getting one on Friday just to check on some flutters and skipped beats I have been having.
