Guest guest
Isabelle, having just started taking Tambocor recently, I still have the information sheet the pharmacy gave me, which says that ginger is contraindicated. I don't know about Coumadin -- it's not one of my medications. Sandy Isabelle Bedell wrote: > : Did you mean to say that ginger interacts with Coumadin and > not Tambacor? Guest guest
Hi, Sandy and Isabelle. I take Coumadin, and ginger is on the list of things not to have. Sandy, I didn't know about not having ginger while taking flecainide. What other common things are on the list? Thanks! Guest guest
, here's the list of drugs that *may* interact with flecainide: ginger hawthorn beta blockers sodium bicarbonate terfenadine (Seldane) medicines to control heart rhythm (amiodarone, digoxin, disopramide, dofetilide, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol) acetazolamide ammonium chloride arsenic trioxide astemizole bepridil certain antibiotics (such as clarithromycin, erythromycin, gatifloxicin, gemifloxacin, grepafloxicin, levofloxacin, moxifloxicin, sparfloxacin) cimetidine cisapride medicine for angina or high blood pressure medicines for astham or breathing difficulties (such as formoterol or salmeterol) some medicines for treating depression or mental illness (amoxpine, maprotaline, pimozide, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants) probucol quinine sodium bicarbonate Even though beta blockers are on the list, I do take Toprol XL 25mg daily with no apparent interaction. But since I am doing so well on the flecainide (haven't had an afib episode in over six weeks -- the longest I've gone in 10 years), I am going to discuss with my EP to reduce the dose or even discontinue it. Best wishes, Sandy, NC, 58, Tambocor Moskowitz wrote: > Hi, Sandy and Isabelle. > > I take Coumadin, and ginger is on the list of things not to have. > > Sandy, I didn't know about not having ginger while taking flecainide. Guest guest
, I don't know what problems ginger can cause if taken with flecainide. I only know that it was included on a list of drugs that *may* interact with flecainide. The list was given to me by a nurse in the hospital when I started flecainide. I guess you could ask your husband's doctor or pharmacist. Sandy Surkont wrote: > What problems does ginger cause? Guest guest
Thank you, Sandy. My husband loves foods with ginger in it, his favorite being a ginger cheesecake. I will check with the doc and I appreciate knowing about this. Best, manda Pike Raichel wrote: > , I don't know what problems ginger can cause if taken with > flecainide.
