What legal issues would you be interested in learning more about and why? Legal training I've been thinking about CE issues both for field providers and EMS managers. What legal issues would you be interested in learning more about and why? Reviewing a judgment or appeals court opinion with an attorney, especially one who has experience in the field, would be very insightful. Most discussions of legal aspects in an EMS in-service usually involve; well I read that this is the law in an EMS text or an " EMS legal guide " so it must be the law. Any discussion of legal aspects without citing the specific statute is really useless. I have seen instructors lecture about legal aspects but the never seem to be able to quote a specific law, statute or ordinance to back up their examples. Maybe a big firm like Vinson & Elkins would have them and allow one to browse their library from time to time. I don't know what the UT Law Library has, but it might be worth a look. How about treatment of minors and legal notification of parents/guardians. Possibly a speak on documentation and how what is written may or may not be interpreted by an attorney in court? They say we should go ahead and write out that the patient has a good <insert pulse here>, motor function and sensation intact in each extremity. Also to avoid using abbreviations/acronyms you cannot recall quickly, like DCAP-BTLS, because you might make it easier for someone to discredit your PCR.
