This might be a little off topic and I apologize if it is. I'm currently

taking care of my mom who has CHF, COPD, Afib, etc and I'm her sole

caregiver. I don't *think* I having a lot of stress but our PCP seems to

think I do. He just recently prescribed me protonix for acid reflux.

Sometimes at night I wake up and I'm sweaty, it's not real bad, just a

hassle. Sleep has been fair. Afib hasn't been significantly worse. It seems

weird that I might have symptoms but I don't feel mentally worked up. When

you have anxiety, you know it don't you?

Thanks for any input!

You do have a lot on your plate. Caring for a sick family member - one with

many ailments sure sounds like a major stressor!

I don't know your age but sweating at night can be hormonal. I have a friend

who has dealt with that situation for years. She is now forty two but started

in her mid thirties. You might ask your GYN if hormones could be a cause.

In the meantime bless you - caregiving is challenging!

Hang in there!

Lorrie - sometimes you have anxiety and stress and you don't know it until the

situation causing the stess is over! I can imagine that taking care of your mom

is not only rewarding, but terribly terribly stressful deep down. Any time we

are solely responsible for another person's health and welfare, there is a

substantial amount of stress involved. Did you remember her meds, is she

comfortable, does she have a doctors appointment.. even simple things add up!

And remember that stress does not necessarily have to be bad.. brides are often

very stressed before and during their wedding... moving to a new house can be

stressful...

I take protonix too... find it not as effective as prevacid, but ok. If

you're sleeping poorly you might try taking it at night... often poor sleep is

caused by heartburn, and a protonix right before bed will calm your tummy, and

hopefully give you a better night sleep!

You also might try to exercise to burn off some of the stress you don't

feel... I know alot of people use exercise for this reason.

Sometimes I don't know it, oddly enough.
