I know we have a memeber who thinks she knows the whole story of

aspertame.

I think you are referring to me, and my intention was not to indicate that I

know the whole story of anything, let alone aspartame, which was invented in

1965 and has undergone the most exhaustive, intensive research imaginable.

I did consultant public relations work for the company who manufactured it

(GD Searle) in 1984, 19 years after its invention, and we've gone another 22

years since then... and a lot of aspartame has gone down a lot of gullets

since then, (200 million people worldwide currently use it in 6000 products).

There are a whole lot of substances out there that are a lot scarier than

aspartame, which is made up of two non essential, naturally occurring amino

acids, l-aspartic acid and phenalalynine; in fact, a glass of your tomato juice

has more of these substances than a couple of packets of Aspartame...but by

all means, if someone is sensitive to something they should not use it,

phenylketonourics should NEVER use it, and if it makes someone feel better to

ban

aspartame from their diet, go for it! As I said, I don't own the stock and in

fact I use the little pink packets, not nutrasweet, because they are cheaper.

:) I just am reluctant to make blanket statements about any particular

food, drink etc. because we are all different.

Thank you

Lil
