Guest guest
My question was about whether creationism should be a part of paramedic instruction based upon 2 of 6 reviews I received on a chapter in progress. Textbooks should be secular and mine will be. The thread degraded to religion. I am disappointed to see that your heart is filled with such hatred simply based upon whose God one chooses to worship. As an EMT, will you treat a Jew different than a Muslim? Do you treat infidels? How would you treat a United States soldier who killed a Muslim in Iraq? Who said that Jews are Europe's unwanted? Hitler? The Sunni and the Shia were not fighting before the US invasion because they were too busy killing Kurds. The Muslims of India now have Pakistan and just a few years ago India and Pakistan was in a standoff. Culturally, I was raised a Roman Catholic. Some of my best friends are Jewish. I too have friends who are Muslim and Hindu and atheist. I don't see them for their religion, I see them for their humanity and that is as it should be. Today, I am more secular. Religion is important in guiding society's behavior. But, it has spilled more blood than all wars combined and the moderators will soon put a stop to this thread (as they should). This clip from Al-Jazeera is revealing: http://switch3.castup.net/cunet/gm.asp?ai=214 & ar=1050wmv & ak=null Re: Loaded Question Dr. Bledsoe, if you are sincere about knowing the answer, email me personally at shah_emt@.... I have been told before that this forum is not the place to discuss religion. F.Y.I. Muslims and Jews were living peacfully till you know who decided to kick Muslims out of Jerusalem to accomodate europe's unwanted. There was no single Sunni-Shia riot in Iraq till you know who arrived at the scene. Under Muslim rulers of India, Hindus were a protected sister community for 200 yrs till the British arrived and found it profitable to make Muslims and Hindus hate each other. Anyone else who has more questions is invited on March 25, 2:00 p.m. to an open house at 8830 Old Galveston Road (Hwy 3), 77034, ph: . OR An Interfaith Education Forum on Freedom of speech vs. religion in cooperation with the Interfaith Ministries, the Boniuk Center for the Study and Advancement of Religious Tolerance, and the Houston Rabbinic Association,a panel discussion in Rice University's Herring Hall, Room 100 on Tues March 21 @ 0700 p.m. Now I have opened a can of worms for sure. Guest guest
Dear DO, By getting personal and attacking my integrity as a professional you have done nothing but reveal your own intensity of negative feelings and emotions. I hope you are feeling better. Don't throw a clot on this list. We can't save you here. Shahla > > > > Would it not be a better world if Jew and Muslim could live > side-by-side in > > harmony? Guest guest
The reply reiterated below is a nifty little lesson in compound rhetorical fallcy, for any phlosophy students out there (formal or avocational) . . . it works like this: The writer engages in an ad hominem fallacy by accusing the correspondent of engaging in ad hominem! What a twist, eh? The ad hominem fallacy is where the persons waging the argument avoids the substance (called the ad rem component--the facts and stuff) but attacks instead the motive or character of the person against whom they wage their quarrel. Problem is, of course, that scoundrels and morons sometimes advance valid arguments despite their character and limitations, while saints and seers sometimes advance drivel despite their insight and genius. asks questions and cites facts--they might not protray Shalah as SHalah would like, but they're facts and observations. Shalah doesn't address or contest these, but accueses of ad homnem attack and offers how he should be ashamed. Meanwhile, if you're keeping score as one would in a formal debate of a boxing match, landed several body blows while Sgalah ducked and clung to the ropes. > > > > > > Would it not be a better world if Jew and Muslim could live > > side-by-side in > > > harmony? Folks who thump tomes almost never listen to reason. That has been my experience. This line of discussion seldom goes anywhere but the gutter. It started as something else and morphed into a debate over who had the bigger, badder dog. Time to drop it and move on. Larry
