Guest guest
Melisa, I'm curious. If you don't have a medical director, how do you hold a provider license? If you don't hold a provider license, how can you provide stand by service, or any service? Just curious. -- > > > > New and forming company looking for a Medical Director. Guest guest
I think the " key " words in her post were: new and forming, and starting this Spring. > > > > > > New and forming company looking for a Medical Director. Guest guest
Steve, I didn't miss that, but I still wonder how a service without a medical director can have a license. If they don't have a license, isn't hiring, or even accepting applications for potential employees getting the cart before the horse? Like I said, I'm just curious. Obviously I don't know how it works in this state. If this is normal practice for Texas, please forgive me for asking. -- > > I think the " key " words in her post were: new and forming, and > starting this Spring. Guest guest
, It is a bit strange but you have to identify employees prior to being " licensed " by the TDSHS as a Provider. You must demonstrate that you have the staff to do what you say you will be doing. As for an event medical provider, I can not speak to how the TDSHS folks will view the staffing requirements. I would suspect that the proposed provider will be covering events on a part time basis, they (TDSHS) would look to see that the requesting agency would have adequate staff for the proposed license and to the level being requested, i.e. BLS, ALS, MICU or any combination. I would suspect that if the event medical were requesting a MICU status and only had basic EMT staff proposed, they would be denied pending designation of appropriately certified employees. The facts are, you can't become licensed without identifying staff, including a Medical Director when required. You really can't look for staff until you have a business plan. But certainly, you can not operate without a licenses and remain in good graces with the TDSHS and other oversight commissions and three letter named agencies. Doing so would create a pretty major party foul as well creating a lot of paperwork, heartache and employment of attorneys to defend acts of stupidity. Some, a few and maybe all of the TDSHS Field Specialists read this list. If you have some specific or general questions to ask, you might ask them in a general question format and they (TDSHS Folks) may be able to give generalized answers to generalized questions on this list. However, if you have specific questions, I would suspect they would direct you to the Regional Office that covers your area. Not speaking for them (TDSHS) but certainly speaking my opinion. bkw Re: Looking for a medical director Steve, I didn't miss that, but I still wonder how a service without a medical director can have a license. Guest guest
well all of you have good points and are right but We will not have an ambulance and will not do any transports ( already talked with numerous people at the state) so their fore will not need a provider license but will need a Medical Director if we plan on doing ALS, they have told me it is like a clinic or first aid station (on site first aid station) would be. As long as we don't have the ambulance no license is required. Britton Waldron wrote: , It is a bit strange but you have to identify employees prior to being " licensed " by the TDSHS as a Provider.
