Guest guest
---Hello Vick: You have a great sense of humor. I am sorry that you have pain near your heart....it sounds like you have indigestion as well as some of the symptoms of gout. You might consider going on an anti-gout diet...there is a ton of information on the web. But, if you have some specific question re: diet and what foods to cut down on or eliminate, please post or email. There is one thing you can do in the meantime and that is to get Knudsen's Black Cherry Juice (8oz bottle) It needs to be reconstituted and that helps to get rid of the purines in some of our food like meat and organ meats, anchovies, sardines, oatmeal, spinach, scallops and other seafood etc. Have one 8oz glass a day. I usually stretch it a bit and I get 5 glasses out of one bottle. Avoid all commercial salad dressings and vinegar dressings...You may have a fresh lemon and oil dressing on your salad. Salt is another thing that you might consider reducing to 1,500mg per day or even less until you feel better and then up it to 2,000mg per day. Take it easy on the coffee and the sugar you put in it. Avoid all products/drinks that are fortified with calcium...I had the worst pains when I drank this type of oj. Do not get the big bottles of cherry juice they are not as effective. In addition do some research on switching to a more alkaline diet. Acid ash foods can cause problems. So, it is good to know that most veggies and fruit are alkaline except plums, prunes, cranberries and blueberries. Citrus fruit has an alkaline ash and can be re-introduced after a few weeks.... All complete protein foods (meat, fish, eggs, cheese etc.,) except maybe yoghurt has an acid ash. Isabelle> > Hey Gang, > > I'm a newbie. Just joined. Diagnosed with A-Fib almost a year ago. Tried a few drugs (prescription of course) and now on Toprol, Rythmol, and the Coumaden. It was interesting to hear about the drug side effects. I thought the house was on fire and full of smoke when I first began taking the medication. It's hard to explain to my wife that I just feel " off " from the drugs. Certainly functional, but just " off " .................snip................... > >
