i also learned today that we have to give ourselves lovenox

injections in our belly for however many days the dr says when we go

home. i have been in these groups for some time now and funny i never

seen that mentioned. that was truely new to me.

Yep, I had to give myself the shots for a week after I got home from the

hospital. It's a blood thinner like heparin to prevent clots. Some Dr.s

prescribe it and some don't. The needle is *very* small and it really

doesn't hurt. Of course I'm an RN so it wasn't the first time I've given

injections.

I had two shots of it in the hospital and that was it! however, I have no

history of blood clots and that may be a determining factor

Hi Barbara. Each Dr is different. I had the shots in the hospital and

had to give myself a shot for 10 days. Now that I think of it I'm

glad its a preventive measure. I had no history of blood clots. You

know some ppl don't even see a pulmonlogist. The shots are no big

deal at all! Just pinch the skin,dart the needle,squeeze the syringe

and pull out. It doesn't hurt a bit.
