Guest guest
I'd give anything to know what was in the pre-op and post-op transcripitons of all his surgeries. The MT's hair must have been standing on end as she was listening to those dictations.
Guest guest
I totally agree with guarding the privacy of your children if you have the celebrity status that MJ has. That's one of the reasons the whole balcony incident is confusing. I agree that it seemed like a totally impulsive thing to do, but if he is so intent on keeping the identity of his children private then why even bring the child to the balcony, let alone dangle the child over the balcony? Just seemed like an impulsive and irresponsible thing for a parent to do. I guard my children's privacy to a point, but when it comes to guarding their health, their life, I would give my own life. I wouldn't dangle them from any height. I think if MJ was just a regular guy and he decided to dangle one of his children over a balcony, there'd be some sort of investigation. Of course, MJ is worth quite a bit. Money talks. Here's what I found from his infamous interview: " Why can't you share your bed? " said, holding hands with the 12-year-old and letting him rest his head on his shoulder. " The most loving thing to do is to share your bed with someone. " The boy, who says he met after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, said when he asked to spend the night in the singer's bedroom, gave him and his brother the bed and slept on the floor himself. In a later interview, also said he slept on the floor that night, but he added, " I have slept in a bed with many children, " including former child actor Macaulay Culkin together with his siblings. " http://abcnews.go.com/sections/2020/DailyNews/michael_jackson_doc_030206.htm l <http://abcnews.go.com/sections/2020/DailyNews/michael_jackson_doc_030206.ht ml> This is the link about the interview. MJ kinda waffles on this issue, saying he slept on the floor and also saying he and the Culkin siblings all slept in one bed. Who knows? He did settle out of court regarding those allegations years ago. Was it to avoid a length court trial? Or was it to avoid something else? These are just my $0.02 on the whole thing. He is so talented and I don't want to give him a bum rap, but he kinda gives himself a bum rap. If he had built Neverland and said he wanted to help children because he loves children I would've thought that's a wonderful thing. Then he goes and tells us all how kids ask to stay over and spend the night, sharing your bed, etc., and his whole image is marred...by his own words. Guest guest
Is this a great country or what ? Isn't it nice that we can all express our opinions, and I have to say you have some good points. I do agree that dangling that baby was not one of the brightest things he's ever done. I knew when I expressed my opinions about MJ that I would probably be in the minority, and of course I could be wrong. There could indeed be something untoward going on with those kids. Obviously the only ones who really know for a fact what was going on were the ones who were there. The same holds true about whether or not OJ murdered his ex-wife and Ron Goldman, and unfortunately the only ones besides OJ who were there at the time are dead and can't tell us. However, I have always been totally convinced that OJ did it. Again, I could be wrong. So, the point you made about " money talks " is certainly valid. In my opinion, money and his status in sports is why OJ got away with murder. Jan jantranscribes@... " Typing is my life. " " Whoever signs the paycheck makes the rules. Guest guest
I agree, it is a great country. I learn a lot about MT on this list, but I also learn a lot about all kinds of other things. A lot of times when something sensitive like this is brought up I might already have preconceived ideas and feelings about it. I read other's comments, and I learn more about the subject and see it from a different angle. I try to keep an open mind about things. Some of MJ's current actions, though, are just so hard to believe. Maybe it is because he is so eccentric. Honestly, I think the man needs help, but I don't know if anyone in his entourage or even his family will try to take the initiative and get him some help. Re: (OT) Is this a great country or what ? Guest guest
I agree . After watching all of the interviews that is the feeling I was left with. No one in his entourage or family are able to get through to him about seeking help. He obviously needs help of some kind. There has to be some self-loathing going on or he wouldn't feel the need to change his appearance to the extent he has. IMO, I think he feels about his face what anorexics feel about their bodies. When anorexics look in the mirror they see fat, fat, fat. And when looks in the mirror he sees an unattractive black child. Robyn RE: (OT) > I agree, it is a great country. Guest guest
That is so painful to watch, too. He obviously has the adoration of millions of fans. For him to dislike himself (apparently) so much to continually change his look makes me want to reach out to him, give him a hug, and help him, you know? He never was ugly in the first place. I'm afraid he might self-destruct some day to the point where he's gone. Re: (OT) I agree . After watching all of the interviews that is the feeling I was left with. Guest guest
Yes, I wish I could help him too. He is so hugely talented and yet so lonely and vulnerable. I feel his spending sprees are a way to fill up all the empty places in his life. According to the pics, if he had stopped at surgery #2 he was really attractive. I also don't believe for a minute that he has vitiligo. I think he's rejecting his black heritage right along with his self image which is SO sad. Robyn Re: (OT) > > > I agree . Guest guest
That's what I was thinking...about the time he did the Billie Jean video and Thriller stuff, he was pretty good-looking. I think once he got away from the 5 when he was in his late teens-early 20s, he still had a little baby fat going on really just in the face from what I could tell. He just needed to grow into it. When you have that kind of money, though, I suppose it's very, very easy to get into plastic surgery, etc. Of course, those surgeons know he is good for the money and probably coaxed him along. I would never want to be in the limelight like that, unless of course it was for transcribing an excellent report dictated by one of the most difficult dictators in the world.....LOL!!!!!!!! I'm happy living my life without having to read about it in the funny papers! hahaha Re: (OT) Yes, I wish I could help him too. He is so hugely talented and yet so lonely and vulnerable. Guest guest
There are so many different aspects to the MJ thing... specifically, though I wanted to bring up what he said about his face when he was a teen. He said he had really bad acne, and he tried not to even have his picture made during that time, but it happened, anyway. One was shown on TV during one of those documentaries. His father was apparently very hard on him and teased and criticized him about his bad skin, told him he was ugly and that his nose was so big - too big. In MY opinion, I can see how once he had the financial means to " correct " what he felt was wrong with his face, he did, and as someone here said, he is like an anorexic looking into the mirror and seeing fat. He looked into the mirror and saw ugly. And now he has gone too far. Basically, I think that in HIS mind, his life is normal and he sees nothing wrong with what he does and his interest in children, particularly young boys. (But then, you could say a psychopath thinks what s/he does is right too!) and I just thought of something else - maybe he is trying in some twisted way to undo all the bad his own father did, by trying to take care of all these little boys and show them what unconditional love is. I don't know, and like Rennie, I reserve the right to be wrong!! (I liked that!) But this is certainly interesting conversation! Carol in NC RE: (OT) > I agree, it is a great country. Guest guest
I think you kind of have to take the whole " sleeping together " thing in context. Sleeping together is not necessarily synonymous with having sex, even though we use the term to mean that. My kids have always loved sleeping in my bed, with or without me, ever since infancy, and there have been times when they had friends over who also slept in my bed. When my 8-year-old spends the night at her friend's house, they often climb into bed with the friend's dad because she likes to sleep in his bed. Then they sometimes move to the couch, the floor, back to her friend's bed, etc. Yes, the bed is one place where sex happens, but that doesn't mean that being in bed is equal to having sex! People in the press need to " get their minds out of the gutter " as my mom used to say. That having been said, nowadays, with people's minds where they are, any adult should think very carefully about allowing a situation to exist in which people eager to get them in trouble would be able to do so. Any adult who has ever been accused of suspicious behavior with children, even if it was a false accusation, should probably avoid being alone with any child if they can help it. Sad, but true. Okay, them's my two cents. Lynn RE: (OT) I totally agree with guarding the privacy of your children if you have the celebrity status that MJ has.
