When Dr. Roe (the surgeon Ethel and I use) gives his presentation he talks

about how at first when you get back to eating its usually about 3 bites

before you reach the " full point " but the 4th could put you over into

painful zone. Its his way to tell us to learn to take small bites, chew

alot, stop and think before the next bite. You know the new way to learn

how to eat. I had to relearn what sipping meant while in the hospital and

already sent my Mom out to get me a couple sets of baby utensils in order to

KNOW I will take small enough bites. Here's how the good doc breaks it

down:

1 bite - chew chew chew - sit think - realize oh that's good food

2 bite - chew chew chew - sit think - decide to take another bite of

something

3 bite - chew chew chew - sit think - realize hmmm my belly feels a bit full

4 bite - chew chew chew - sit think - realize oh man I should never have had

that bite - ouch

Of course this will probably change slightly as one becomes more post op but

for the most part the concept remains a good one.

I am really looking forward to when I get to test out the 3 bite rule - heck

I am looking forward to soups with more substance than broth next week ..

lol

Melanee in Baltimore - who answered for Ethel since I know she's having

server problems and I was the one she directed the reminder to. Hope you

don't mind :)

Our Dr. Roe has a 3 bite rule , take a bite -wait 3 minutes,( even if

you have to put egg timer at

your plate for awhile,)take a second bite -wait 3 minutes ,talk to your

family slow down ,

take a third bite ,By then your head is telling you that your are

getting full, today is my one year anniversary and i still use it ,even

in resturant ,get where you can see a clock or use your watch,

i am 118 lbs. lighter and very grateful to him for that rule , Ethel

I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are: impulse

buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That is my idea of a perfect

day.

--- Hey, what a great attitude! I just posted in the other group,

asking you about whether or not you wanted the tummytuck. LOL. You

look fantastic, what great before and after pics. Happy Birthday.

Mine was in January. Doesn't it feel great? I'm still trying to

break this 2-3 month plateau I've been on. My stress level has

improved somewhat. Of course, it would improve a great deal more if

things were better at the other place. I don't want to lose it, it's

home, and I think it might be on its' last leg. It means a lot to

me, and I don't want it to fade away. I thought things would improve

if I pulled back, to take care of myself, but it's almost as if no

one cares about the new people who need answers. I do. I want it to

thrive. I saw where you tried to help, thanks so much. Have a great

day. Love, Lynn
