Guest guest
Hello, for those of you who do not take coumadin for afib and chose to take aspirin, what is the usual dose per day. Thanks, Jeanne
Guest guest
Unfortunately, optimal aspirin dosing for anticoagulation therapy is still unclear. My cardio has me taking 325mg daily. There has been some research that found that low doses of aspirin (i.e. 81mg) only weakly blocked red blood cells from stimulating platelet clumping. see also http://tinyurl.com/b4p83 and http://www.personalmd.com/news/a1998020209.shtml There was also another study that found that those on warfarin suffered a higher death rate and more major bleeding compared to those who took high-dose (1300mg!) aspirin. So this is definitely something to discuss with your doctor before you start in. - > > Hello, for those of you who do not take coumadin for afib and chose to > take aspirin, what is the usual dose per day. Guest guest
I take 75mg per day. I asked my cardio if I should increase it but he said no. I'm seeing him again next week when I'm going to ask him about statins (which according to one bit of research have a remarkably good record of stopping AF). Mark ----------------------- Mark, could you direct me to that " one bit of research? " I'd like to read it and possibly show it to my doc as well ... maybe I could take statins where I can't take any of the other a-fib drugs ... maybe not, but any port in storm. Thanks. Guest guest
They do work in different ways, and I've had it explained to me, but don't remember which is which now... one keeps your blood from clotting, one keeps your platlets from sticking together and then heparin does something completely else, which is why sometimes we have to give ourselves lovenox shots at the same time we start coumadin (when first starting after a long afib event)... I have my own doctor's blessing to take an occassional aspirin or ibuprofen for headach or body ache.. Tylenol doesn't do much for either. I think, as with greens, moderation is the key... Stef I take both Aspirin (325 mg/day) and Coumadin. I think they work in different ways. This is with the blessing of my cardiologist.
