Guest guest
Hi - Welcome to our group. Nice to have you with us. I had an open RNY because I wanted to have the malabsorption and dumping to keep me away from sugar. I have lost 96 pounds since May 21, 2002. I know there are some people who are happy with a VBG and others who are unhappy and get revised later to the RNY. You should research all of your options and decide which surgery would be the best for you. Have you been to www.obesityhelp.com? Another good site is www.sabariatrics.com. And our web site it also full of info. for you as well. Take care. Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Chua Open RNY - 5/21/02 5'7 " - 314/218/150-175 djgraves@... Guest guest
Welcome . There are pros and cons for each of the surgeries. I personally chose and sought out the Laproscopic RNY. The sites Jeanne sent you are great starting places, as is the files of this list. Good luck in your decision Hugs, Jules Romero 381/245/160 Lap RNY 5-29-2002 I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are: eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Guest guest
Dear , Welcome to the GBIC. I had an open RNY on 9/5/02 and I'm very happy with my results. I think we have a few VBG patients here (Janet, are you a VBG?) that could help you. Take good care and God bless your WLS journey. Guest guest
I know a coupla hundred people who have had both. VBG first, then revised to RNY. Unanimously, they prefer life with RNY. Of course, I have NOOOOOO opinion on the matter..... hi iam new Hello, My name is sonia and i live in canada. I have an appt to see a surgeon on may 1st. This surgeon only performs vbg. Guest guest
VBG = vertical banded gastroplasty It is a metal band placed around the stomach to restrict intake. Usually no intestines bypassed, so strictly a restrictive surgery. Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Chua Open RNY - 5/21/02 5'7 " - 314/218/150-175 djgraves@...
