Guest guest
Completely normal for both sexes. Has to do with the fact that fat cells hold onto hormones, rather than release them......... and when we lose weight, it releases too much of them. At least this is how it was explained to me by my gyno. Hugs, lack of sex drive? hey everyone.. I have a diffrent question for everyone. Anyone have a drop in sex drive following wls? Guest guest
Hi Angel in Red - I'm sorry you're going through this. Are you taking any new medications since surgery? That's one possible cause. Otherwise, I would talk to your doc about it. Most people have the opposite come true, they just go at it like bunnies. LOL! Good luck getting some answers. Take care. Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Guest guest
Dear Angel in Red, Well, I pretty much didn't feel remotely sexual until about a month out from my surgery. I had an open RNY and I make those lovely keloid scars so ... at first that hindered me sexually, if you know what I mean. I thought my scar was so ugly so he must too, right...? Wrong. LOL He was just happy to be invited to play again. LOL In fact, I don't think it bothers him at all. We (generic) can think that's all they're thinking about when our spouses are much deeper/caring than we sometimes give them credit for. Your feelings might be hormonal, however. I've read that major surgery can upset our hormonal balance. That's why many of us either start our cycles in the hospital or shortly after we arrive home. Have you had blood work done yet? I might talk to my OB/GYN and explain what you're going through/feeling. He/she might be able to help you. In closing.. sometimes a little bit of ::blush:: foreplay (even when you're not in the mood) can help you get into the mood. You might find yourself thinking, " Wow. I forgot how nice this can be. " Take good care, don't rush things but be willing to investigate getting help if you need it. ::Big Warm Hugs from your Sis in Virginia:: Love, Trace
Guest guest
Dear Boliver, I remember writing you a couple of weeks ago when you first posted about your wife's reaction to your weight loss. Since you posted I hope you don't mind me asking.. Have you talked to your wife about this? Would she be willing to visit a marriage counselor regarding the intimacy problem...? You wrote that you two have been married 22 years. I'd hate for the intimacy problem to create more problems down the road. Take good care and I hope I haven't overstepped any boundaries with my questions/suggestions. Love, Your Sis Trace
Guest guest
My problem is/was different. I do not think my sex drive has changed that much (probably more than I recognise), but my wife's has changed. She does not desire to have sex with me. I am hoping that when I have lost the weight and had some PS, her desire will return. This can be rough on a marriage. We have been married for 22 years and it is a problem. So as a newly wed, be aware and talk about it. Boliver > hey everyone.. I have a diffrent question for everyone. Anyone have > a drop in sex drive following wls? Guest guest
No you have overstepped the boundries. No, she will not see a counselor (sp). She is convinced that everything is my fault and thus there is no need to speak to anyone. I just need to change. I do not know where this will end up at. I am going one day at a time.
