Guest guest
Just wanted to check in and let the group here know I made it home from surgery. It was an extended stay in the hospital due to a severe gout attack being brought on by the surgery so I couldn't walk till Friday afternoon due to the pain in my feet. As of right now I am feeling pretty poorly because I also got a C-diff infection which is something to do with bad bacteria taking over the intestines. So everything I put in my mouth instantly causes gas pains and cramping until whenever it finally motivates me to hobble as quickly as I can to the potty. What do you call a 400+ pound woman with constant diarrhea and the inability to bend enough to reach around to wipe herself? Miserable and an over showered person (damn am I glad for those hand held shower things with the hoses on them). I have struggled today to get in a 16 oz bottle of water and one of the pre-made cups of sugar free Jell-O (that's it for the entire day) and my medications. Can't stand the taste of anything and each swallow causes me to hurt. Still waiting though for this to pass and for me get to the better side of losing *weak smile*. Well I wanted to check in but I really can't stay. Being upright is painful after awhile - then again so is laying down after time too .. Guest guest
Melanee - First let me congratulate you for making it to the other side. I'm sorry you are having complications. Now, I have to say, hon, you've got to do better with your water. If not, you will dehydrate and be right back in the hospital. I hear it is awful for them to try and get an IV into a dehydrated person, both for the patient and the staff. Please, please, please, keep sipping on water all the time. You just gotta. I will pray that you are feeling better soon. Do they give you antibiotics for that type of infection? Take care. Jeanne in WI Age 39 - Dr. T. Guest guest
Dear Melanee, ::Big Hugs:: Welcome home, girlfriend. I'm sorry to read about your gout and the C.difficile infection. What are they giving you for this? My dear Mom-in-law had a terrible time with colitis due to a C.diff infection. She was in the hospital for off and on for over four months. They started her on Flagyll but switched to Vancomycin. I know that anything by mouth makes your stomach hurt and possibly the diarrhea but dehydration put my MIL in the hospital twice during all of this. Sip, sip, sip water or Pedialyte (do they make S/F Gatorade) all during the day. You're in my prayers for a complete recovery. Guest guest
I am on Flagyll (well the generic form of it). Today is a better day than yesterday and last night especially. Realized the Fruit2O was triggering the retching and switched to plain water and managed to so far get about 32 oz in for the day (starting at 6am). Sugar free Popsicles are all that the belly is tolerating. It seems to not like sugar free Jell-O so much right now. Still takes me about 30 mins to get my meds in and I toss back up any vitamins I attempt today so I will hold off on those for a couple days yet. Doctor told me to wait on the protein drinks till next week meaning the week of March 10. Thanks for understanding the C-diff. Its been a real hassle. Oh and did I mention I started my period as well. Haven't had it in 4 years and today it decides I needed a lil more misery. Still glad I had the surgery. Hey Mom - I ain't feel so sparkly right now so can you be a lil extra to compensate for me? Melanee in Baltimore Re: Home from surgery Dear Melanee, ::Big Hugs:: Welcome home, girlfriend. Guest guest
There, there. Wet cloth for your forehead. I only know a little about c-diff. What I know is that it is a long way to spell: misery Poor baby. Just suck on those popsicles, there, baby girl. Stay hydrated. Drown the sucker. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
