I was reciently involved in an accident that totaled my car.I left for

work early cause it was raining and i didnt want to be rushed. Put my

seat belt on and headed out as i cam to the intersection i couldnt stop

and i slid into the intersection hitting a subruban type vehicle. the

impact sent everything that was in my trunk to the front of my car.even

the back seats layed down when i relized what had happened i thought

the car was on fire but it was the air bag. i had a sharp pain in my

side where my phone was and across the lower part of my stomach and my

hand hurt and was brused. An older man came to the window and told me

to roll down the window but i couldnt move (i was in shock) so he tried

to open the door but it was jammed so he came to the other side and

opened the door and rolled the window down so i could get air cause i

couldnt breath as the car was filling with smoke . Then the ambulance

came and the fire department cut me from my car . As they were putting

me in the ambulance i heard them talking about how they couldnt belive

i was alive. My injuries consisted of a brused hip ,hand, stomach, my

breast , and shoulder. I will have pictures later and i walked away

from the hospital assisted but i did it. Please wear your seat belt

cause you never know what might happen. (I was doing 35-40 in a 45 zone

impact at 20-25)

OH MIchelle,

HOw scary for you!!!

You are right--things can change in a heartbeat and you just never know when

anything can happen. Thank you for the seatbelt reminder (it is a law here) but

also knowing you are (mostly) alright is good news

pam

I'm so glad you were relatively uninjured. What a scary thing!

Shortly after the seatbelt laws were enacted in IL, my husband and I were in

a crash that totaled our car. Our only injuries were the bruises across our

bodies from the seatbelts and some cuts on DJs face from a mirror in the

back of the car (we were transporting home some furniture) that had broken

and flown forward. Thank goodness for those seatbelts. They saved our

lives too.
